MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Wednesday (8/21)

When it comes to betting on baseball, same-game parlays (SGPs) offer an extra sizzle and spice. These SGPs allow you the opportunity to combine multiple different legs into a single, customizable wager with potentially massive payouts. I missed both parlays last week by a single leg, which is tough, but we're still up on the season. Remember, these are high-risk, high-reward bets so you won't be hitting winners every day but when you do, it will be well worth it. Remember to shop around for the best odds. It's been a bit of a tough couple of weeks, missing a lot of parlays by one leg. But hey, we bounce back. Let's get to it.

Wednesday's MLB Best Same Game Parlay Bets

Tampa Bay Rays at Oakland Athletics

Leg 1: Rays -1.5 Runs (+130)
Leg 2: JJ Bleday 2+ Bases (+175)
Leg 3: Rays Over 3.5 Runs (-145)

A simple strategy in betting is to fade the bad teams and bet on the good ones. Ryan Pepiot takes the bump for Tampa Bay. Despite the close odds here, Tampa Bay should handle the A's as Pepiot is someone I trust on the road. He has performed better on the road this season and recently, with a sub-1.50 ERA across his last four games. You can either take the Rays run line or the A's under but I'm going to ride with the run line.

Most of Oakland’s starting lineup struggles against Pepiot but JJ Bleday is an exception. The Oakland center fielder has a near 1.000 OPS in over five plate appearances against Pepiot, so an extra-base hit is well within reason to find for Bleday at the top of the lineup.

Mitch Spence takes the bump for the A's and he hasn't exactly had the best August with a 5.79 ERA in August and a 7.56 ERA over his last two starts. Following recent play, everything sets up perfectly for this SGP and to find it at +600 is quite solid value. I plan on betting two units on this one because I figured it would be closer to +500 or +450. The Rays bullpen should be able to handle the Athletics’ offense just fine while Pepiot deals.

Cincinnati Reds at Toronto Blue Jays

Leg 1: Blue Jays Under 4.5 Runs (-150)
Leg 2: Ty France Under 0.5 Hits (+135)
Leg 3: Tyler Stephenson 2+ Total Bases (+120)

This is a fun interleague matchup between Cincinnati and Toronto. Nick Martinez takes the bump for Cincy. He has been excellent of late with a 1.89 ERA in August and a 1.71 ERA on the road. The Blue Jays offense ranks 21st in runs scored over the last month. It may be a juiced line but I'm happy to ride the under and combine it with two player props.

Tyler Stephenson has been the best player for Cincy across recent play, going 16-for-56 in August with a .969 OPS and nine extra-base hits. Odds are, if Stephenson manages a hit, it will be multiple bases - exactly what is needed here. Ty France, on the other hand, has struggled against Yariel Rodriguez, and his July was a struggle with a .176 batting average. He has bounced back well in August but I still am happy betting him to go hitless.

Colorado Rockies at Washington Nationals

Leg 1: Over 9.5 Runs (+134)
Leg 2: Brenton Doyle Under 1.5 Total Bases (-160)
Leg 3: Alex Call 2+ Hits (+225)

Finally, we have a national league matchup for the ages. Alex Call has been unstoppable since the All-Star break, going 26-for-71 in his 19 games with a .366 average. In seven of his last 12 games, he has recorded multi-hit games, which means +225 is a fantastic offer to be given.

Brenton Doyle is not been doing so hot, though. Despite the -160 odds it still is a solid leg to be added to the parlay. The main addition is the alternate over. That would be my main play for tomorrow's games. Both teams rank in the top half of run scoring in the league while both teams' ERA ranks 26th and 27th in that same time. There will be scoring abound in this game and that is why I took the alternate over instead of the regular one. Feel free to go crazy with the alternates if you're feeling risky. Adding the Doyle under gives great odds to +900, which makes this a wonderful SGP.
