Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners

Tatsuya Imai had a shaky MLB debut for the Astros, allowing four runs over 2.2 innings. However, the Japanese rookie bounced back in a big way in his second outing - 5.2 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts on the road against the Athletics. Let's hope Houston's starter can replicate that in today's matchup.

The Mariners have struggled a ton against right-handed pitching this season. They're batting a league-worst .187 versus righties with a .286 wOBA (26th) and 28.4% strikeout rate (28th) in the split. Plus, Seattle's pitcher-friendly park also bumps up Imai's upside.

As for Imai, he owns a 35.1% strikeout rate and an .178 expected batting average allowed over his first two starts. The slider is especially filthy and will likely confound opposing hitters in the early part of games this season. Let's not forget that Imai posted a 1.92 ERA and 2.01 FIP last year in Japan.

On the other side, Emerson Hancock will have his hands full with Houston. The offense has been among the best in the league so far this year, with a .370 wOBA (second) and 142 wRC+ (first). The Astros also boast the lowest strikeout rate (16.5%) and highest walk rate (15%) against right-handed pitching.

Hancock has looked strong this year, with only one run allowed and 14 strikeouts over 12.2 innings. However, it might be time to sell high ahead of today's tough matchup. This is still the same pitcher who had a 4.90 ERA last season, with a poor 16.6% strikeout rate.

One Houston hitter who can do damage against Hancock is Christian Walker. The Astros first baseman is swinging a hot bat, with a .340 average and 1.040 OPS so far this season. He's recorded 17 hits, 13 RBI and nine runs scored over the first 13 games. Walker has also gone over 1.5 combined hits + runs + RBIs in 10 of the last 11 games.

Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

After losing to the Blue Jays last time out, the Dodgers will be looking to get back in the win column in a big way tonight. Let's roll with a Los Angeles-heavy parlay in Friday's home matchup against the Rangers.

Kumar Rocker is slated to start for Texas. The right-hander was decent in his first outing of the season, allowing two runs over five innings. However, that was at home against the Reds. Now he has to take on a loaded Dodgers lineup on the road.

Rocker had a rough 9.29 ERA and .346 wOBA allowed in his road starts last year. Compare that to a 2.43 ERA and .203 wOBA at home. That doesn't bode well against a Los Angeles offense hammering right-handed pitching. The Dodgers have a league-best .295 batting average versus righties, as well as a .378 wOBA and 138 wRC+ in the split (both rank second in the league). They're also averaging a league-high 6.3 runs per game.

Andy Pages and Kyle Tucker should both produce some runs. Pages is on fire to begin the season, with a .413 batting average and 1.111 OPS. He's averaging 3.1 combined hits + runs + RBIs per game. Pages is also hitting .457 with a 1.244 OPS against righty pitchers thus far.

As for Tucker, he's hitting .273 with a .741 OPS this season. Against right-handers, he's hitting .333 with 10 runs scored. Tucker can mash in this split, and he's gone over 1.5 combined hits + runs + RBIs in four of the last five games. Notably, Rocker allowed a .319 batting average and .908 OPS to left-handed hitters last year.

Let's also count on Tyler Glasnow to rack up strikeouts against Texas. The righty struck out nine and six batters in his first two starts this season, posting a 0.92 WHIP across 12 innings as well. Glasnow was dominant at home last year, putting up a 2.77 ERA and 33.5% strikeout rate while averaging 7.3 punchouts per home outing. The Rangers sport the 11th-highest strikeout rate in the Majors.
