MLB Same Game Parlays & Picks: Monday (5/4)

MLB Same Game Parlays & Picks: Monday (5/4)

Two of the 12 games on Monday’s slate are continuations of series played over the weekend, and one of my MLB same game parlays (SGPs) focuses on one of those four-game series finales. My other two same-game parlays are also from divisional matchups, as the familiarity gives us a lot of data to scour.

Let’s dive into the three best MLB SGPs for Monday’s enticing 12-game slate.

Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees

The Yankees have won 13 out of their last 15 games, and look to finish a four-game sweep of the Orioles after having won 11 of the last 12 against their American League East rival.

New York owns a +55 run differential over this torrid 15-game stretch, while averaging 6.2 runs per game and belting 33 home runs.

Aaron Judge has driven in at least one run in five of the last seven games, and has totaled a 1.500 OPS with two home runs in 10 at-bats against Orioles righty Shane Baz.

I also expect Cam Schlittler to get the best of Pete Alonso in their head-to-head matchups, especially since he leads the league in WHIP, is second in ERA and has allowed a .113 batting average to right-handed hitters.

      Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are 15-3 since the start of play on April 14th, and have now won 11 consecutive games at Wrigley Field. That’s Chicago’s longest home winning streak since a 14-game surge in 2008.

Prior to yesterday’s 8-4 pounding of Arizona, the Cubs were averaging 5.3 runs per game with a .750 team OPS during a four-game winning streak.

Cincinnati is coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Pirates, during which it was outscored 27-8. The Reds are likely happy to not be facing Pittsburgh, but get no reprieve against Edward Cabrera, who has increased his strikeout total in three consecutive starts.

Cabrera is coming off a season-high seven strikeouts against San Diego, where he generated whiffs on 38% of swings, and a 33% CSW% overall.

But I am not completely fading the Reds, as Elly De La Cruz was slashing .288/.351/.558 over the last 15 days before yesterday’s 0-for-3 finale against the Pirates.

De La Cruz has just two extra-base hits in the last six games, but he can just as easily go over this projected total with a multi-hit day, which he has done three times since April 21st.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Prior to dropping Sunday’s series finale 3-2 to Washington, Milwaukee had won three straight and five of the previous six, while outscoring opponents 43-11. But it’s the Brewers’ pitching that catches my eye, holding opponents to one or fewer runs in three of the last four.

I expect Brandon Sproat to limit a Cardinals offense that entered yesterday averaging 6.7 runs per game during a six-game winning streak, while also getting a combined 2.97 ERA from their starting pitchers.

William Contreras leads the team in batting average, and he has nine hits in the last four games. I expect him to make the most of his hits at-bats against Cardinals righty Kyle Leahy, even though he has had control issues with three walks in three of his six starts, leading to shorter outings.

While a wild Leahy would diminish the chances of the under cashing, opponents have scored four or fewer runs twice in the three games where Leahy had his season-worst games from a walk perspective.
