MLB Same Game Parlays & Picks: Monday (7/6)

MLB Same Game Parlays & Picks: Monday (7/6)

With just eight games on the Major League Baseball slate, my MLB same-game parlays (SGPs) focus on a division rivalry between the top two teams in the American League East and an Interleague finale of a series that didn’t get started until Saturday.

Let’s dive into the two best MLB SGPs for Monday, July 6th.

Philadelphia Phillies at Kansas City Royals

If the Phillies are to win convincingly and cover the -1.5 runs, it will likely come in the form of a dominant performance from Cristopher Sanchez.

In Philadelphia's only two losses in Sanchez's 12 starts since April 30th, the team was shut out. Otherwise, it has an overall +48 run differential over that span, with just two of the wins being by one run. That's why I am comfortable laying the -1.5 runs, which the Royals have covered just three times in their last 10 games.

If shutting out the Phillies is seemingly the only way to beat them when Sanchez toes the rubber, I don't expect Noah Cameron to be up to the task. The southpaw has allowed four or more runs in four consecutive starts.

Earlier this season, Sanchez broke Philadelphia's 115-year-old scoreless innings streak. He had a four-start stretch of 32 scoreless innings with 36 strikeouts, making him one of three pitchers ever with that many strikeouts and innings pitched over a four-start scoreless streak.

After his last start, Sanchez led the Majors in innings, K:BB ratio, groundout-to-airout ratio, quality starts, complete games and games started, and he was second in strikeouts and ERA. He generated 23 whiffs while holding the Pirates scoreless over seven innings, which shouldn't be overlooked, considering they rank third in runs scored.

J.T. Realmuto entered Saturday with a .346/.370/.808 slash line with three home runs in six career games at Kauffman Stadium. His 1.178 OPS there was the highest at any visiting ballpark where he played multiple games.

New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays

On Saturday, the Yankees allowed a season-high six home runs, the most they allowed in a single game since August 15th, 2019 (seven against Cleveland). That loss dropped New York to 4-12 in its last 16 games. The Yankees have averaged just 2.9 runs per game and posted a -39 run differential over that span.

On the same day, Tampa Bay snapped its nine-game winning streak, its longest since the start of 2023 (13). But for Houston to snap that skid, it had to overcome a five-run deficit in the fourth inning.

I don’t expect New York’s bats to suddenly wake up against Shane McClanahan. The southpaw faces a lineup ranked 26th in wRC+ and 25th in OPS against left-handed pitching on the road over the last month.

The safest and most conservative leg of this same-game parlay is Junior Caminero to record a hit. He entered yesterday with a home run in consecutive games and was batting .386 with 11 home runs, 23 RBI and a 1.136 slugging rate in his last 11 games.
