(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
- Leg 1: Kyle Tucker Over 1.5 Total Bases (-110)
- Leg 2: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (-155)
- Leg 3: Zac Gallen Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-144)
Zac Gallen is taking the hill for the Arizona Diamondbacks to begin the season. He is a notable pitcher, but he’s been far from excellent, especially on the analytical side. Gallen struck out only 21.5% of batters last season and allowed a .187 ISO and wOBA of .319. He also gave up more than 30% of fly balls and only earned 9.5% of swinging strikes.
Gallen struck out only 19% of lefties and allowed a .167 ISO and wOBA of .329 to 399 lefties. We’ll want to attack with left-handed hitters.
Kyle Tucker will want to make a nice first impression with his new team. He smashed a .204 ISO and wOBA of .370 with only 14.3% of strikeouts against righties last year as a left-handed hitter. He can do damage to Gallen. So can Shohei Ohtani, who hit a .364 ISO and wOBA of .434 against right-handed pitchers last season in 455 plate appearances.
The Dodgers’ projected starting lineup only struck out 20% of the time against righties last season. Only Ohtani, Teoscar Hernandez and Alex Freeland had strikeout rates above 20% against righties. Take Gallen to go under 4.5 strikeouts to close out this same-game parlay.

Cleveland Guardians vs. Seattle Mariners
- Leg 1: Logan Gilbert Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+102)
- Leg 2: Cal Raleigh Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115)
- Leg 3: Josh Naylor Over 1.5 Total Bases (+125)
The Mariners will begin the season with Logan Gilbert on the mound. The Seattle ace struck out 31% of batters last season and allowed a .289 wOBA to 603 batters. He earned 15.3% of swinging strikes and added nearly 30% of whiffs. He also walked just 5.5% of batters. Gilbert will likely put on a good performance against a Guardians squad that will have at least five batters who struck out more than 24% of the time against righties last season.
On the other hand, Tanner Bibee is getting the start for the Guardians. The right-hander struck out just 21.4% of batters last season and allowed a .170 ISO to 424 lefties. Those lefties also added 44.1% of hard contact. Bibee earned just 9.6% of swinging strikes against lefties and gave up more than 28% of fly balls with an 8.5% barrel rate.
Cal Raleigh was one of the best hitters in the league last season. The switch-hitting catcher will bat from the left side, where he recorded a .319 ISO and wOBA of .382 last season. Josh Naylor, another lefty, earned a .177 ISO and wOBA of .366 with just 12% of strikeouts against righties. Naylor will likely put the ball in play against Bibee.
