Despite the shortage of games, we found ourselves a clean 3-0 sweep last time out. Let’s try to carry that momentum into Friday, where we have a full slate of 15 games. Here are three of my favorite pitcher player predictions on Sleeper for Friday, August 2.

MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions
Sleeper Record: 156-90 (62.9%)
The man known as, “Cookie,” is washed up at this point. Carlos Carrasco sports a 5.68 ERA and rates in the 26th percentile in xERA and 27th in CSW% among starters. He has allowed at least three earned runs in four of his past five starts, including six earned in his past two outings. He now faces the ball-bashing Baltimore O’s. The Orioles are sixth in wRC+ (122) when facing right-handed pitching over the past 30 days. Cookie managed to contain them to only two earned runs across five innings at the end of June, but it’s hard to see that happening again.
We have a Southpaw showdown in the American League Central with Cole Ragans and Tarik Skubal going head-to-head. The two squared off in late May. Ragans turned in his best start of the season in that one. He fired six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks, while striking out a season-high 12 Detroit batters. Ragans ranks in the top 92nd percentile in K% and 98th in swinging strike rate among all starting pitchers. He has gone over this mark in five of his last seven starts as well.
The Phillies rookie right-hander is coming off a complete game shutout against the Guardians. While it’s highly improbable for Tyler Phillips to reach those heights in back-to-back starts, this is a solid matchup for him to go another six innings. The Mariners added Justin Turner and Randy Arozarena to bolster their lineup, but it is still very weak. Seattle is 20th in wRC+ (98) against right-handed pitching over the past 30 days. Phillips has filled the zone with his sinker/sweeper combo in his first three starts, exceeding this line in all three starts.
