MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions
Sleeper Record: 205-121 (62.8%)
The Dodgers might be better off putting out a pitching machine than starting Bobby Miller at the moment. He has been dreadful all season long, and it has somehow been even worse as of late. On the season as a whole, he ranks in the bottom first percentile in xERA, 24th in xFIP, fifth in BB%, and 11th in CSW%. Miller has permitted three or more earned runs in nine of his 12 starts this year and faces a surprisingly feisty Miami lineup that ranks 11th in wRC+ (111) over the past 30 days against right-handed pitching. At this price, it is definitely worthy of a swing to fade Bobby.
Taking on the Orioles won’t be the easiest task for Snellzilla, but he is matchup-proof when it comes to finding strikeouts. He ranks in the 99th percentile in both swinging strike rate and strikeout rate among starters. Snell has eight or more punchouts in eight of his last 11 starts. He also has a solid history of finding strikeouts against this Baltimore roster. They own a combined 32.9% K% across 73 plate appearances against him.
There isn’t much more of a cushy matchup for a starter than taking on the Tampa Bay Rays these days. They are fifth in K% (26.2%) and 26th in wRC+ (85) against righties over the past 30 days. Pivetta is a strikeout artist, ranking in the top 93rd percentile in K% among starting pitchers. He has six or more strikeouts in 10 of his last 12 outings.
