MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions

Sleeper Record: 100-101

Nick Lodolo Less Than 6.5 Strikeouts (1.78x)

The Reds left-hander has serious strikeout upside but has had difficulty putting that together regularly to find seven strikeouts this season. Nick Lodolo is under this mark in six of his nine starts, and this matchup isn’t amazing for him either. Lodolo faces a Guardians team ranked sixth in wRC+ (124) and 18th in K% (20.6%) against lefties over the past 30 days. Only three of the 15 southpaw starters to face them have exceeded this number.

Javier Assad More Than 4.5 Strikeouts (1.67x)

Javier Assad doesn’t light up the advanced metrics scale but he finds five punchouts at a decent clip. He is over this in eight of his 13 starts this season and draws a Tampa Bay side struggling at the dish more recently. They are 28th in wRC+ (76) and seventh in K% (24.8%) against righties over the past month. Nineteen of the last 25 right-handers to go head-to-head with them have gone over this mark, so let’s back Assad to do the same here.

Pablo Lopez More Than 6.5 Strikeouts (1.59x)

Be sure to check the Minnesota weather before rolling with this one. There is inclement weather in the forecast; however, if they can play uninterrupted, it’s hard not to like this one. Pablo Lopez takes on the strikeout-prone Colorado Rockies, who are fourth in K% (26.1%) and last in wRC+ (78) against righties this season. Admittedly, it hasn’t been the best start to the season for Lopez, but he still possesses some filthy stuff and ranks in the 84th percentile in K% and 76th in CSW% among all starters. He has six or more strikeouts in nine of his 13 starts and should be able to get over this with the matchup on hand.
