Sleeper Record: 159-96 (62.3%)
The wheels finally fell off for Taj Bradley in his last outing against the Marlins. Before that start, he was working with a 0.82 ERA over his last nine starts. Despite that lackluster performance, he still managed to find his way to six strikeouts, a number he has reached in 11 of his 15 starts. Bradley ranks in the top 94th percentile in K% and 83rd in CSW% among all starters this season. The Cardinals are tough to strike out, but Bradley has proven himself capable of getting over this number more often than not, even in difficult matchups.
Chris Sale takes on the Brewers for a second consecutive start. Typically, it isn’t great to be backing a starter when they have just faced an opponent this recently, but Sale isn’t any typical starter. He’s the current National League Cy Young favorite, ranking in the top 97th percentile in K% and CSW% among starters. Sale has gone over this mark in 15 of his 20 starts on the season, so I will gladly back him.
This line is far too short for Michael King in this matchup. Pittsburgh has one of the weaker lineups in all of baseball. They are ninth in K% (24.6%) and 23rd in wRC+ (87) against righties over the past two weeks, right in line with their season rankings. King has exceeded this number in 11 of his last 14 starts and 14 out of 22 overall on the year. He is nasty and is in the top 98th percentile in CSW% and 89th in K% among all starters this season.
