Saturday’s Best MLB Sleeper Player Picks & Predictions
Let’s dive into our top MLB Sleeper player picks and predictions for Saturday’s slate of games.
Cristopher Sanchez Under 2.5 Earned Runs (1.52x)
Cristopher Sanchez is a left-handed pitcher for the Phillies, who has held his last 97 batters to a .043 ISO and wOBA of .210. He’s earned above-average strikeouts against righties and has added more than 58% of ground balls over the last month.
Additionally, Sanchez has held opponents to 15.3% of fly balls and has kept walks down to 4.1%.
Ultimately, the Pirates don’t have many good hitters against lefties. Only Rowdy Tellez and Oneil Cruz have put up above-average ISO and wOBA numbers. Yet, both of those guys are left-handed hitters going up against Sanchez, who is also a lefty.
There are just no good matchups for the Pirates. Take Sanchez to limit the damage and win his Under 2.5 earned runs prop.
Nick Lodolo Under 5.5 Strikeouts (1.59x)
The Reds will send out lefty pitcher Nick Lodolo for tonight’s showdown against the Nationals. He’s a left-handed pitcher who has allowed a .286 ISO and wOBA of .407 to his last 59 batters. The Reds lefty has also earned just 18.6% of strikeouts over the previous month despite having struck out 24.7% of batters this season.
He’s trending downward.
Meanwhile, the Nationals don’t have a high ISO and wOBA against lefties. But the lineup typically keeps strikeouts down. Only Trey Lipscomb and C.J. Abrams are high strikeout candidates in this Nationals lineup tonight. The rest of the lineup has struck out 20% or less over the last month against lefties.
Let’s take Lodolo to go Under 5.5 Ks.
Bobby Witt Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.63x)
Bobby Witt Jr. has smashed a .270 ISO and wOBA of .386 against his last 80 righties. He’s also struck out only 18.8% of the time and has hit more fly balls than ground balls against righties over the previous month.
On top of that, Witt Jr. has added a 66.7% hard contact rate, leading the Royals in barrel percentage against righties with 13.3%. His BABIP is also the best on the team at .321 against righties.
He’ll be in line to face Chicago White Sox starter Jonathan Cannon. Cannon has allowed a .253 ISO and wOBA of .363 to his last 83 batters. He’s also given up more than 26% of line drives to righties and has added just 13.6% of strikeouts against them.
Take Witt Jr. to add at least two total bases.
Ketel Marte Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (1.63x)
Kyle Hendricks will man the mound for the Cubs tonight. He’s thrown to 81 batters over the last month and has allowed a .188 ISO and wOBA of .408 to 35 lefties in that time.
Hendricks has also struck out only 11.4% of lefty batters over the last 30 days and has watched those same 35 lefties smack nearly 36% of line drives against him.
Meanwhile, Ketel Marte will bat against Hendricks from the left side. The Diamondbacks switch-hitter has hit a .273 ISO and wOBA of .414 with only 5.6% of strikeouts against righties over the last 30 days.
As the lead-off hitter, Marte will likely set the table with some hits and then earn a run or two from the lineup behind him.
