Saturday’s Best MLB Sleeper Player Picks
Let’s dive into our top MLB Sleeper player picks and predictions for Saturday’s slate of games.
Colt Keith has slugged against righties over the last month. The left-handed second baseman has hit a .310 ISO and wOBA of .449 against his last 82 righties. In addition, he’s struck out just 15.9% of the time against righties over the previous month.
He’ll take on Michael Lorenzen, who is pitching for his new team, the Kansas City Royals. However, Lorenzen has struggled badly against lefties over the last month himself. He’s allowed a .250 ISO and wOBA of .388 to his previous 37 lefties and has given up 44.4% of hard contact with only 11% of swinging strikes.
On the other hand, Keith has hit 29.3% of line drives against righties over the last 30 days and even has a BABIP of .327 against righties in that time.
Take him to earn at least two total bases.
The Chicago White Sox have lost 18 consecutive games in the MLB. The offense has hit a .103 ISO and wOBA of .249 against righties over the last month against righties and has struck out 28.5% of the time.
The projected lineup against righties has also walked below 5% of the time against righties. In short, it has been a disaster.
Meanwhile, Bailey Ober of the Twins has held his last 100 batters to a .126 ISO and wOBA of .218. He has limited line drives to 11.9% and has added 17.9% of swinging strikes with 29% of strikeouts and just 4% of walks over the last month.
Ober has pitched like an ace, while the White Sox have hit like a minor league team. Let’s back Ober to hold the White Sox below two earned runs in his start.
The Rays will throw Zack Littell tonight. He’s a righty who has allowed a .209 ISO and wOBA of .376 against his last 100 batters. He’s been below average, except for his walks, over the previous month. That’s where he’s above average.
Littell has walked just 6% of batters over the last month and has walked only 4.5% of batters this season.
That’s ideal when facing the Astros. Over the last month, the Astros have walked just 5.8% of the time and have seven batters with a walk rate below 6% against righties.
I’m on Littell to limit the walks tonight.
Consider finishing out your entry with Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is a left-handed hitter who has smacked a .380 ISO and wOBA of .455 against his last 62 righties.
He’ll take on Mitch Spence of the Athletics, who has allowed a .311 ISO and wOBA of .357 to his last 50 lefties. Spence has also struck out just 22% of lefties and has given up 67.6% of hard contact in the previous 30 days.
In addition, Spence has allowed 41.2% of fly balls and just 38.2% of ground balls induced against lefties over the last 30 days.
Ohtani has limited ground balls to 27.6% and has smacked 48.3% of fly balls with 75.9% of hard contact and a team-best 27.6% barrel percentage. Back Ohtani to get two total bases.
