Saturday’s Best MLB Sleeper Player Picks
Let’s dive into our top MLB Sleeper player picks and predictions for Saturday’s slate of games.
Pablo Lopez Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.91x)
In the last 30 days, Pablo Lopez has recorded 25.2% of strikeouts. However, he’s also thrown 98 pitches per game and has held his last 139 opponents to a .076 ISO and wOBA of .274.
There’s a good chance he goes deep in today’s game. Additionally, he’ll take on a Red Sox lineup that just shut down Rafael Devers for the remainder of the season. As a projected lineup, the Red Sox have struck out 28.5% of the time against righties over the last 30 days. The team has also hit just a .155 ISO and wOBA of .300.
Look for Lopez to go at least six, if not seven innings, and add a high rate of strikeouts against a Red Sox team with seven batters striking out at a high rate against righties.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.92x)
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is looking to close out his individual season out strong. Over the last 30 days, Vlad has knocked a .292 ISO and wOBA of .474 against his last 70 righties. He’s also struck out only 12.9% of the time against righties while hitting 30.4% of line drives and 57.1% of hard contact.
Guerrero Jr. has also used a 14.3% barrel percentage and has added a .404 BABIP against righties in the last 30 days.
Today, he’ll battle Taj Bradley of the Rays, a right-hander struggling against righties. Bradley has allowed a .275 ISO and wOBA of .383 with only 18.6% of strikeouts. Bradley has also allowed 57.6% of hard contact and has given up an 18.2% barrel percentage to righties.
Furthermore, he’s allowed more than 27% of line drives and fly balls and has induced only 36.4% of ground balls.
Vladdy has a legitimate chance to hit one over the wall today.
Max Fried Under 5.5 Hits Allowed (1.57x)
The Braves aren’t on life support yet, but they’re getting close. Over the next week, Atlanta needs to rack up wins to get back into the NL Wild Card.
Therefore, you can expect a good performance out of Max Fried. Fried is a left-handed pitcher who has held his last 127 batters to a .130 ISO and wOBA of .296. He’s also earned nearly 62% of ground balls and has limited fly balls to 14.3%.
Beyond that, he’s added 25.2% of strikeouts and has limited hitters to 6.3% of walks. It’s hard to rattle Fried right now.
Meanwhile, he’ll take on a Marlins squad that has hit a .106 ISO and wOBA of .254 with 25.1% of strikeouts and 5.3% of walks against lefties over the last 30 days. Fried should have a big day on the mound, which he desperately needs. Take his Under on hits allowed.
Yordan Alvarez Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.87x)
Yordan Alvarez has one of the few fantastic lefty-on-lefty matchups.
Alvarez has slugged a .419 ISO and wOBA of .476 against his last 33 lefties as a left-handed batter. He’s also struck out only 15.2% of the time and has hit many fly balls and line drives while smashing over 70% of hard contact.
He’ll face Reid Detmers of the Angels. Detmers is a lefty who has allowed his last 17 lefties faced to hit a .357 ISO and wOBA of .445. He’s also allowed 40% of fly balls and 70% of hard contact to those last 17 lefties.
Let’s trust Alvarez to a couple of hits or an extra-base hit tonight.
