Sunday’s Best MLB Sleeper Picks & Predictions
Let’s dive into our top MLB Sleeper player picks and predictions on Sunday’s slate of games.
Bailey Ober Over 5.5 Ks (1.62x)
Although Bailey Ober has struggled this season, he’s still earned 24.5% of strikeouts against righties this year. Yes, Ober has allowed a .257 ISO and wOBA of .368 to 151 righties, but those strikeouts are still calling my name.
After all, the projected Oakland lineup has hit a .131 ISO and wOBA of .277 with 29.4% of strikeouts. I’m not entirely worried about the Athletics pouncing on Ober. Instead, I like Ober to pounce on the Athletics and earn a solid amount of strikeouts in today’s 2:00 game.
Oakland’s righties have struck out 28.9% of the time over the last 30 days against other righties. Meanwhile, the Athletics have five righties in the lineup.
Let’s roll with Ober to add six or more strikeouts.
Lenyn Sosa Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (1.83x)
You might find Lenyn Sosa at the bottom of today’s order for the White Sox. But he’s hit a .300 ISO and wOBA of .388 with no strikeouts in his last ten plate appearances against lefties.
That’s significant. Sosa will take on Jordan Montgomery of the Diamondbacks, who has allowed a .234 ISO and wOBA of .407 to his first 191 righties this season.
Montgomery has also struck out only 11.5% of righties and has given up 28.8% of line drives to righties.
Lately, Sosa is hitting line drives and limiting ground balls. He’s also hit 60% hard contact of the ten balls in play against lefties. Not only will he likely get on base, but other batters on the White Sox have just as much potential as righties going up against the lefty.
Luke Raley Over 1.5 Total Bases (2.79x)
Over the last month, Luke Raley has slugged a .213 ISO and wOBA of .361 against his last 66 righties. While his strikeout rate is high, that won’t be much of a factor in his matchup against Dane Dunning today.
Dane Dunning will take the hill for the Rangers. He’s a righty who has allowed a .273 ISO and wOBA of 460 to his last 41 lefties. That should play out well for Raley, who has hit 53.7% of hard contact with a 9.8% barrel percentage in the previous 30 days against righties.
Raley has also hit a .368 BABIP, the third-best on the team against righties in the last month.
Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.92x)
In the last month, Freddie Freman has smashed a .258 ISO and wOBA of .421 against right-handed pitching. Today, he’ll get at least a couple of at-bats against Brady Singer of the Royals.
Singer is a righty who has allowed a .236 ISO and wOBA of .433 to his last 61 lefties. He’s also earned just 21.3% of strikeouts against lefties while giving up 25.6% of line drives to lefties over the previous month.
Freeman has limited strikeouts to 15.3% over the last 30 days. He’s also hit 42.3% of fly balls, 30.8% of line drives, and has a .347 BABIP against righties.
