Sunday’s Best MLB Sleeper Player Picks
Let’s dive into our top MLB Sleeper player picks and predictions for Sunday’s slate of games.
Bobby Witt Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.50x)
Bobby Witt Jr. has slugged a .329 ISO and wOBA of .542 against his last 77 righties as a right-handed batter. In addition, he’s struck out only 13% of the time while hitting 62.3% of hard contact and 31.1% of line drives against righties.
Witt Jr. has a .482 BABIP against righties in the last month, but it’s not a fluke. All of his numbers are super above-average against righties.
Meanwhile, he’ll face Javier Assad of the Cubs, who has struggled badly against righties as a right-handed pitcher. Assad has allowed a .583 ISO and wOBA of .682 to his last 18 righties and a .190 ISO and wOBA of .366 to 180 righties this season.
Witt Jr. has a really good matchup today. Let’s take him to add at least two total bases.
Bryce Miller Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (2.06x)
The Mariners will pitch Bryce Miller against the White Sox today. Miller is a right-handed ace who has a .102 ISO and a wOBA of .272 against his last 92 batters. Miller doesn’t add a high rate of strikeouts, but he typically doesn’t fall behind batters, either. He’s also allowed a 2.2% walk rate to his last 92 batters.
On the other hand, he’ll face a White Sox projected lineup that has only hit a .117 ISO and wOBA of .253 against righties over the last month. Only Luis Robert has a wOBA better than .307 in the previous 30 days. It’s very likely Miller escape much damage in this game.
The White Sox have also struck out 28.3% of the time against righties over the last month. If Miller is aggressive and hits the zone, he’ll have a monster day. Take him to give up Under 4.5 hits allowed.
Jorge Soler Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.91x)
Jorge Soler has destroyed left-handed pitching over the last month. He’s hit a .350 ISO and wOBA of .438 with only 15.4% of strikeouts. These numbers are ultimately why he’ll more than likely lead off for the Giants tonight.
Soler has hit just 12.5% of grounders and has tattooed 43.8% of fly balls with 62.5% of hard contact and an 18.8% barrel percentage.
Conversly, he’ll compete against Austin Gomber of the Rockies. Gomber is a lefty who has allowed a .230 ISO and wOBA of .396 to his last 75 righties. Additionally, Gomber has earned just 14.7% of strikeouts against righties in the previous 30 days.
Soler has the potential to launch a couple of baseballs today. Take his Over.
Rowdy Tellez Over .5 Hits (1.46x)
Rowdy Tellez has added a .259 ISO and wOBA of .324 against righties over the last month. He’s also struck out only 16.7% of the time against righties in the previous 30 days.
Today, he’ll take on Yilber Diaz of the Diamondbacks. While Diaz is expected to be a really good pitcher in the future, he hasn’t shown it yet. Against lefties, the right-hander has allowed a .167 ISO and wOBA of .363 with only 23.8% of ground balls induced. He’s also struck out just 11.1% of lefties since getting the call into the majors.
Meanwhile, Tellez has really limited ground balls against righties and has hit 33.3% of fly balls with an above-average barrel percentage. Look for Tellez to lift one for at least a base hit to the grass.
