Sunday’s Best MLB Sleeper Player Picks
Let’s dive into our top MLB Sleeper player picks and predictions for Saturday’s slate of games.
Ky Bush Over 2.5 Walks (1.87x)
Ky Bush has only faced 45 batters this season for the White Sox. However, those 45 batters have walked nearly a fourth of the time.
Yes, Bush has walked 24.4% of batters, including 21.4% of lefties and 25.8% of righties.
He’ll take on the Astros, who are usually aggressive at the plate. But you can’t be aggressive if the ball is way outside of the plate. Look for Houston to change its approach and force Bush into difficult situations to pile up the walks.
Joe Musgrove Over 4.5 Ks (1.56x)
In Joe Musgrove’s return to the mound last week, he struck out just 5.9% of batters. This season, he’s struck out just under 20% of batters.
But Musgrove has a history of higher strikeouts. He even finished last season with 24.4% of strikeouts. This season, he likely won’t reach that level. But he should at least get back over 20% of strikeouts this season.
He’ll take on a Rockies lineup that has struck out 28.4% of the time against righties over the last month. The projected lineup has eight batters who have struck out at least 24.3% of the time in the previous 30 days against righties.
With eight targets, the veteran Musgrove should be able to earn at least five strikeouts in today’s game in Coors Field.
Marcell Ozuna Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.85x)
The Atlanta Braves will face righty Jack Kochanowicz of the Angels in today’s series finale. Kochanowicz has allowed his first 28 righties faced this season to hit a .333 ISO and wOBA of .435 with 31.6% of fly balls and only 17.9% of strikeouts.
Meanwhile, he’ll take on Marcell Ozuna of the Braves, who is a right-hander slugger hitting a .319 ISO and wOBA of .441 over the last month against righties.
Ozuna has launched 36.4% of fly balls and 59.1% of hard contact. He’s even hit a 16.7% barrel percentage against righties. Don’t be surprised if Ozuna gets ahold of one.
Blake Snell Under 1.5 Earned Runs (1.65x)
Over the last month, Blake Snell has held his last 120 batters to a .083 ISO and wOBA of .182. He’s also added over 40% of strikeouts and has limited teams to 20% of line drives.
He’ll go after an Athletics lineup with six batters with an ISO of no better than .125 over the last month against lefties. The entire bottom of the order has really struggled to get on base. Therefore, even if Snell walks a batter in the middle of the lineup, he’ll likely be able to escape the damage when pitching against the bottom portion of the lineup.
Back Snell to go Under 1.5 earned runs to conclude your entry.
