Sunday’s Best MLB Sleeper Player Picks
Let’s dive into our top MLB Sleeper player picks and predictions for Sunday’s slate of games.
Salvador Perez Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.71x)
In the last 30 days, Salvador Perez has hit a .375 ISO and wOBA of .458 against his last 27 lefties. As a right-handed batter, he’s a major threat to any lefty pitcher.
He’ll take on lefty Kolby Allard of the Philadelphia Phillies today. Allard has watched his last 41 righties hit a .225 ISO and wOBA of .366 with only 14.6% of strikeouts. He’s also allowed 38.2% of fly balls and 50% of hard contact, with only 6.5% of swinging strikes against righties in the last month.
Perez has launched 35% of fly balls against lefties over the last month and has drilled a 15% barrel percentage, which has led to a .353 BABIP. Let’s grab Perez to earn at least two total bases today.
Matt Wallner Over 1.5 Total Bases (2.02x)
Matt Wallner will likely bat clean-up today. He’s smashed a .339 ISO and wOBA of .434 against his last 69 righties as a left-handed slugger.
Wallner has limited ground balls to 33.3% and has hit 33.3% of fly balls over the last month against righties. He’s also hit 75% of hard contact with a team-best 19.4% barrel percentage.
He’ll hit against Erick Fedde of the Cardinals. Fedde is a right-handed pitcher who hasn’t looked good against lefties lately. Fedde has allowed a .341 ISO and wOBA of .413 to his last 47 lefties. He’s also struck out just 10.6% of lefties in that time and has earned only 4.2% of swinging strikes.
Wallner has all the potential in the world against Fedde.
Jackson Chourio Over 1.5 Hit + Run + RBI (1.59x)
Jackson Chourio figures to be involved in today’s game against the Athletics. He’s a right-handed batter who has hit a .314 ISO and wOBA of .392 against his last 76 righties.
Today, he’ll get to face Joey Estes of the Athletics. Estes is also a right-hander who has watched his last 56 righties hit a .222 ISO and wOBA of .332 with 38.6% of fly balls and only 20.5% of ground balls induced against righties in the previous 30 days.
Chourio should be a solid table-setter in the two-spot. Below him will be William Contreras, Willy Adames, Jake Bauers, and Rhys Hoskins, who have all hit for high power against righties lately.
Manny Machado Over 1.5 Total Bases (2.08x)
When Manny Machado is red-hot, so are the Padres.
Machado figures to put on a show today. He’ll take on Jose Quintana of the Mets, who is a left-handed pitcher.
That’s significant because Machado has hit a .500 ISO and wOBA of .594 against his last 17 lefties faced this season.
On the other hand, Quintana has allowed a .218 ISO and wOBA of .364 to his last 120 batters and has allowed 37.1% of fly balls to righties over the previous month.
Quintana has also struck out only 17.5% of batters and has earned 8.8% of strikeouts in the last month. Look for Machado to take advantage.
