Sunday’s Best MLB Sleeper Player Picks
Let’s dive into our top MLB Sleeper player picks and predictions for Sunday’s slate of games.
William Contreras Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.84x)
Over the last month, William Contreras has smashed a .250 ISO and wOBA of .466 against left-handed pitchers. He’s also struck out just 18.8% of the time while hitting 33.3% of line drives and 88.9% of hard contact.
No, that’s not a typo. He’s also hit a 33.3% barrel percentage against lefties and has a BABIP of .444 over the last month.
Today, he’ll take on Mitchell Parker of the Nationals. Parker is a lefty who has allowed a .308 ISO and wOBA of .430 to his last 47 righties. Parker has also allowed 37.9% of fly balls to righties over the previous month and has induced just 31% of ground balls.
In addition, Parker has allowed 44.8% of hard contact and has earned just 6.4% of swinging strikes against righties over the last 30 days.
We’ll take Contreras to add at least two total bases.
Orlando Arcia Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (1.78x)
The Atlanta offense is starting to turn the corner against right-handed pitching. While Orlando Arcia might not have the most power, he’s been the best at making contact consistently for Atlanta against righties.
Arcia has a .235 ISO and wOBA of .390 against his last 72 righties. He’s also struck out 18.1% of the time against righties over the previous month. Arcia doesn’t walk much against righties. He’s up there to swing the bat. With his bat, he’s added nearly 27% of fly balls and almost 45% of hard contact against righties.
He’ll have plenty of opportunities to drive runners in. Behind him, Austin Riley, Marcell Ozuna, and Matt Olson have hit against righties well over the last month.
Arcia will face off against Edward Cabrera of the Marlins, who has allowed a .274 ISO and wOBA of .377 to his last 98 batters. Cabrera has been terrible against both sides of the plate, giving Arcia plenty of opportunity to hit extra-base hits and drive in runners.
Corbin Burnes Under 1.5 Walks (1.63x)
Corbin Burnes has walked only 6% of batters this season. That rate has ticked up slightly over the last month. But overall. He’s been above average in limiting walks this season.
Burnes has issued 56% of ground balls and has allowed 16% of fly balls and line drives over the last month. He’s also held teams to a .134 ISO and wOBA of .285. He’s been locked in.
Today, he’ll take on a Guardians offense that has hit a .124 ISO and wOBA of .301. More importantly, the Guardians have walked below 7% of the time over the last month with this projected lineup. Only Lanbe Thomas and Bo Naylor have worked walks at a higher rate than 7.4% against righties.
The Guardians rarely earn walks against righties. Back Burnes to keep the walks down.
Royce Lewis Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.77x)
It’s always good when Royce Lewis is in the lineup. This year, it’s been rare, but he’s been dominant when healthy.
Against his last 16 righties, Lewis has smoked a .429 ISO and wOBA of .456 with only 18.8% of strikeouts. He’ll take on Chris Flexen of the White Sox, who has allowed his last 55 righties to hit a .180 ISO and wOBA of .386 over the previous month.
Flexen has struck out just 10.9% of righties and has allowed more than 43% of hard contact to righties over the last month. Let’s give Lewis a chance to add at least two total bases today.
