Sunday’s Best MLB Sleeper Player Picks
Let’s dive into our top MLB Sleeper player picks and predictions for Sunday’s slate of games.
Matt Olson Over 1.5 Hit + Run + RBI (1.68x)
Over the last month, Matt Olson has hit a .299 ISO and wOBA of .362 against his last 76 righties. The left-handed slugger has also struck out only 18.4% of the time and has hit 41.5% of fly balls, 32.1% of line drives, and 66% of hard contact against righties in the last month.
In addition, Olson has earned a 20.8% barrel percentage but only has a .208 BABIP. It’s been bad luck for Olson over the last 30 days against righties. But that should change against Yariel Rodriguez of the Blue Jays.
Rodriguez, a right-handed pitcher, has watched his last 49 lefties hit a .279 ISO and wOBA of .400 against lefties in the previous month. He’s also allowed 35.3% of fly balls and more than 41% of hard contact. Beyond that, he’s only struck out 18.4% of lefties in the last month and has earned below 11% of swinging strikes.
Take Olson to add a couple of hits, runs, and RBIs. He’s batting behind Jorge Soler and Marcell Ozuna, who have also hit righties over the last month.
Francisco Lindor Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.82x)
Francisco Lindor’s MVP campaign is real. He’s hit a .303 ISO and wOBA of .455 against his last 95 righties and has only struck out 22.1% of the time.
Today, he’ll take on Julian Aguiar of the Reds, who has allowed a .389 ISO and wOBA of .441 against his last 38 lefties. Aguiar has also allowed 37.9% of fly balls, with only 27.6% of ground balls induced to lefties. Furthermore, he’s allowed 48.3% of hard contact and has added just 8.2% of strikeouts.
Let’s give Lindor a look to add at least two total bases in today’s game against the Reds.
Juan Soto Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.92x)
The New York Yankees will face Jameson Taillon today. Taillon is a right-handed thrower who has struggled to get lefties out over the last month.
That’s good news for Juan Soto of the Yankees. Soto is a lefty who has torched right-handed pitching, earning a .391 ISO and wOBA of .470 against his last 55 righties.
Soto has also struck out just 18.2% of the time and has hit more than 61% of hard contact with a ridiculous 27.8% barrel percentage.
Taillon has allowed 45% of hard contact and has allowed 26.7% of line drives over the last 30 days. Look for Soto to take advantage and earn at least two total bases.
Manny Machado Over 1.5 Total Bases (1.89x)
Let’s finish the Sleeper entry with Manny Machado to earn at least two total bases. Machado has hit a .278 ISO and wOBA of .375 against his last 97 righties. He’s also struck out only 12.4% of the time against righties in the previous month.
Meanwhile, he’ll take on Tristan Beck of the Giants, who is a right-handed pitcher who struggled against right-handed hitting in his first game this season. Beck has only faced six righties but watched those six righties hit a .600 ISO and woBA of .613 with 50% of fly balls and only 7.1% of swinging strikes.
Machado is red-hot at the plate. Look for him to take advantage of Beck’s inability to get righties out.
