Saturday's Top Underdog Fantasy NBA Pick 'Em Picks
Caris LeVert 9.5 Points – Lower
In the regular season, Caris LeVert scored six points in 27 minutes against Orlando. Now, in three playoff games, LeVert has scored an average of 9.3 points per game, thanks to a 15-point outburst in the loss to Orlando on Thursday.
LeVert still hasn’t seen 30 minutes of game action. He also attempted no more than eight shots in his first two games against the Magic in this series.
Add to this Orlando’s above-average defense of small forwards and the Magic’s likelihood of knocking off the Cavaliers in Game 4, and we’ll ride the Under for LeVert here.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope 9.5 Points – Lower
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has added 11 points combined in his last two games. He’s also hit just 1-for-9 from downtown despite playing 70 minutes in the previous two matchups.
KCP started off the series hot, hitting 4-for-10 from downtown. But he had never attempted that many threes in the regular season, so it was clear regression was coming.
In the series, he’s only hit 32% from the field and has shot 26.3% from downtown. He’s not even averaging three made field goals a game. Those are not stats I’d want to back!
Jaylen Brown 21.5 Points – Higher
The highest-paid player in the NBA will want to step up in a crucial Game 3 against the Miami Heat. The Celtics can’t afford to get down in a series against the No. 8 seed. After losing in Game 2, Boston was rewarded with a wake-up call.
But the one guy who actually stepped up offensively in Game 2 was Jaylen Brown, who added 33 points on 13-for-23 from the field. Brown even nailed four threes on nine attempts.
I like Boston to win this game. If they win, you figure Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will be the reasons why.
Brandon Ingram 5 Assists – Lower
Brandon Ingram was once expected to be the star of the Pelicans. But he’s not.
He’s third on the Pelicans in scoring, averaging just 15 points per game. If Zion Williamson were healthy, Ingram would likely be fourth on the list.
Despite playing 35 minutes a night, Ingram has averaged just three assists per game in the Playoffs. He’s also failed to score 20 points in either game.
This likely has something to do with Oklahoma City’s defense against small forwards. The Thunder rank 6th in the NBA in assists allowed to small forwards. They’ll more than likely keep Ingram to around three assists again today.
Darius Garland 6 Assists – Lower
One reason the Cavaliers lost on Thursday was Darius Garland’s inability to score. He only contributed five points on 2-for-10 shooting from the field in 31 minutes.
Still, in those 31 minutes, Garland only tallied six assists in the loss. He wasn’t much of a factor for the Cavaliers. Instead, Donovan Mitchell had the ball in his hands for most of the game. Garland even came in when many starters were out and failed to rally the troops.
Expecting the Magic to win over the Cavaliers in Game 4, I’d back the Under for Garland’s assists. Cleveland’s will probably not score much like Game 3.
