NFL Week 8 Anytime Touchdown Scorer Odds & Picks (Sunday)

We’ve entered week 8 of the NFL and today is going to have a bunch of fun games that will be worth betting. In fact, we’ll even have our first game of the year with snow as the Chiefs head to Denver to take on the Broncos. Look for plenty of interesting weather in that game. When looking at the totals for the games around the league, the highest point totals currently are the following:

Patriots/Dolphins — 46.5 total points
Chiefs/Broncos — 46 total points
Bears/Chargers — 46 total points
Lions/Raiders — 46 total points
Ravens/Cardinals — 45 total points (opened at 43.5 points)

Looking at point totals is always interesting but always important when trying to determine touchdown scorers for the NFL. As I research the games around the NFL, here’s my favorite touchdown scorer for this week 8!

Los Angeles Rams at Dallas Cowboys

One of the larger totals on the NFL Week 8 card is right here with the Rams and Cowboys. The total opened at 47 points for this game and ended up moving down to 45.5 points. To me, that implies that Vegas wants people to take the over but that indicates the under 45.5 points could very well be the play in this game. One of the main reasons is that in the Cowboys 6 games played this year, over 45.5 points has only hit once. Other than that, they’ve seen five games go under 45.5 total points. Meanwhile, the Rams have only gone over 45.5 total points just twice this season. This game may be lower scoring than suggested.

That being said, I do think there will be some points put on the board. Somewhere around a score of 24-17 for this game seems realistic. With that, the Cowboys and Rams are both susceptible to giving up yardage on the ground. The Rams allow 117 rushing yards per game and the Cowboys allow 111.7 rushing yards per game. One of the assets to the Rams offense has been their ability to run the football in the red zone this season. Prior to the injury to Kyren Williams, he had scored 6 times from inside the 20-yard line. However, his replacement, Darrell Henderson did well last week with a red zone touchdown. Keep in mind, the Cowboys are ranked 16th in the NFL at 53.3% for red zone TD rate.

Last week against the Steelers, Henderson earned 18 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown. Even though plenty of the offense is done through the air with receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp eating all of the targets, there’s much to be desired with the Rams rushing attack. Offensively, the Rams average 365 total yards on offense per game and that’s 6th best in the NFL. Meanwhile, their 112 rushing yards per game is respectable for a team that has been much better than expected. I’d expect this game to be lower scoring and to be close but if the Rams are going to score, I think they’ll rely on Henderson the closer they are to the end zone.
