The 2026-27 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season continues with another full slate of games on Tuesday night. We have two games on ESPN - the Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars meet at 8:00 p.m. ET, and the Tampa Bay Lightning and Vegas Golden Knights meet at 10:00 p.m. ET. We’re focusing on the West Coast window to give you more time to place your bets. Below are our top NHL player props for Tuesday, October 20th.
Tuesday's Best NHL Player Props
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Vasily Podkolzin Under 2.5 Shots on Goal (-152)
The Minnesota Wild allow few shots on goal (SOG) - 25.4 per game, ranking ninth in the NHL - and their penalty kill ranks fourth in the league (89.4%). That’s because Jesper Wallstedt has been a wall in front of the net for the Wild, posting a 1.99 GAA so far.
That said, the Oilers are normally a unit offensively. However, shots on goal have been few and far between, which is unusual. Vasily Podkolzin is off to a hot start for the Oilers, with 7 goals, 11 points and a +12 rating. He’s cooled a bit lately, though, and he didn’t even record a SOG in Utah on Saturday. He is averaging just 1.5 SOG in the past four games. Go low on his total.
Jared McCann 1+ Points (-154)
Almost completely opposite to Minnesota, the Detroit Red Wings have been hemorrhaging power-play goals this season. The Red Wings rank just 27th on the penalty kill, posting only 69.6% when down a man.
Seattle left winger Jared McCann has three goals and eight points this season, with two goals and three points on the man advantage. He should like the Red Wings’ penalty kill unit. We won’t play him to get a power-play goal, though; we’ll just bet on him to tally one point.
Sebastian Aho Anytime Goal Scorer (+140)
The Hurricanes are hopping mad after the lowly Calgary Flames snapped their seven-game win streak. That’s why they play, though; you never know.
That said, Carolina should have plenty of room to operate against a Vancouver team that is just 2-7-1, allowing 4.5 goals per game (31st in the NHL) and facing 32.7 shots per game (31st). The Canucks are also dead last on the penalty kill (58.1%). We’re going with Sebastian Aho to get on the board, but look for several Hurricanes to have big games.
Jack Eichel 2+ Points (+190)
The final game of the (k)night features the Tampa Bay Lightning and Vegas Golden Knights meeting at T-Mobile Arena at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. That’s going to be a good one, and it could also be an early Stanley Cup preview.
Jack Eichel has been a frequent pick in this space this season, and he shows no signs of letting up. Eichel has a goal and five points with a +4 rating in the past two games, and he has multi-point efforts in six of his first 10 games, totaling five goals and 18 points. Let’s roll the dice on Eichel having a two-point night, as that could nearly double up your wager.
