Wednesday's Top MLB Picks: Rangers vs. Yankees
(MLB odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Texas Rangers (-102) at New York Yankees (-116) | O/U 7.5 (-104/-118) Picks & Predictions
It may be fair to assume that Texas Rangers righty Jacob deGrom is fully healthy, after he completed eight innings for the first time since April of 2021 in his last start. In addition, his eight shutout innings were also the 11th time in his career he has thrown eight or more shutout innings in a start, and his first in doing so with Texas.
DeGrom has now lowered his ERA from 4.30 to 2.29 over his last six starts, and is coming off an outing where he threw a whopping 71.9% of his pitches for strikes. He has pitched to a 3.22 ERA and 1.052 WHIP in seven career starts against the Yankees.
I expect a low-scoring game on this chilly night in the Bronx, especially since Texas ranks 20th or worse in wRC+ and BABIP against left-handed pitchers, and now face Yankees southpaw Ryan Yarbrough.
Since pitches were first tracked in 1988, tonight's @astros – @Rangers game is the only MLB game where both starters:
pitched 8.0+ innings
allowed no more than 1 run
struck out 7+ batters
threw fewer than 100 pitches pic.twitter.com/AoDzeWWIwu— OptaSTATS (@OptaSTATS) May 16, 2025
Pick: Under 7.5 Runs (-118)
