San Francisco 49ers vs. Washington Redskins NFL Sports Betting Guide

This Week 7 matchup features two teams heading in very different directions. The Washington Redskins fired their head coach mid-season and sit with just a single win. The San Francisco 49ers head to the nation’s capital, looking to remain undefeated and enjoy their friendly schedule. Overview

The 49ers remain undefeated, as the only NFC team to do so. They have not really been challenged yet this season, winning games by an average of 16.6 points. Jimmy Garoppolo may be the quarterback mentioned the least this season, which is because he is simply doing what he needs to and not losing games. It’s the running game that has been the highlight for this team, using a committee approach to average 179.8 rushing yards per game (second in the NFL). Defensively, they have been elite, averaging 237.4 yards allowed per game and an outstanding 150.2 passing yards per game (best in the NFL). It will be tough for Washington to get much going Sunday against this defense.

Washington got their first win of the season last week, which was a one-point victory over the Dolphins. Offensively, a hobbled Case Keenum continues to play quarterback, while both running backs are a bit banged up heading into this matchup. This is one of the worst offensive teams in the league from both a yards and points perspective, with the only bright spot being rookie receiver Terry McLaurin. Defensively, they are allowing 134.0 rushing yards per game, which is bad news with the Niners coming to town.

Home Team Total Points: Under 16 (-116)
Not only are the Redskins bad offensively, but they’re also banged up. The team averages 15 points per game, which is terrible, and now they play San Francisco, who allows 12.8 points per game. This is not the week they magically put things together, especially if they’re missing starters.

Bottom Line

The 49ers have an average point differential of +16.6. This includes games against both the Rams and Browns, who are struggling but are much better than this Redskins team. In fact, you could argue that this is the worst team San Francisco has faced so far, though the Bengals would have something to say about that. Case Keenum, Adrian Peterson, and Chris Thompson were all held out of practice on Wednesday. Even if they all play, they are clearly banged up, which makes a bad team worse. Offensively, Washington will not be able to move the ball. Defensively, they will have no answers for this Niners’ running game.

Pick: San Francisco 49ers -9.5
