Friday's Best MLB Picks & Predictions
Last Time: 1-2 | This Season: 19-20
Athletics vs. Los Angeles Angels
Starting out West, I'm going right back to a plus-money Angels bet. Walbert Urena takes the mound for L.A., and he owns a 1.85 ERA at home this season across his seven starts, allowing one single home run in his 39 innings. Urena has handled the A's with ease this season, allowing zero runs in his two previous starts against them across 11 innings.
J.T. Ginn takes the bump for the Athletics, and he's been solid as well with a sub-2.00 ERA away from home. The Athletics’ bullpen ERA isn't exactly great, but it gets a big bump on the road.
Considering the Angels have a top-10 unit, I'm shocked to see how high the total is for this matchup. If you want, you can combine an under with the Angels’ Moneyline, but I'm sticking with the home team pulling off a win as the official play.
Pick: Angels Moneyline (+105 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers
The Cubs continue their road trip as they take on the Brewers for the fourth time this season, having lost the first three. Unfortunately for the Cubs, it's not looking like they are set up well this time around either.
Jacob Misiorowski gets the nod for Milwaukee, and there's a reason he's -200 to win the National League Cy Young. He's allowed one or zero runs in eight of his last nine starts with a 0.45 ERA in that time frame.
After the Cubs' solid performance on their road trip, I expect them to come back down to the mean tonight. They are down starting pitchers, and Colin Rea starts with his 7.19 road ERA in 41.1 innings away from Wrigley Field. Don't be afraid to take some alts here, but I'm keeping it simple with the spread.
Pick: Brewers -1.5 (-114 at BetRivers)
Colorado Rockies vs. Minnesota Twins
Finishing with an Interleague battle between the Twins and Rockies, I'm expecting some run production from the road team. Over the last month of play, Colorado has scored the seventh-most runs. In road games, they move up in the rankings to fifth.
In that same time frame, no bullpen has been worse than the Minnesota Twins with a 6.72 ERA. Taj Bradley makes the start, and he's struggled of late with a 6.53 ERA over his last four starts. The official line for the Rockies’ team total is 3.5 runs, but I'm going to bump it up to 4.5 and take the over at plus-money odds.
Pick: Rockies Team Total Over 4.5 Runs (+114 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
