We’ll be looking at some first-basket props with a massive slate on the horizon tonight in the NBA. Over the last couple of days, I’ve been great at projecting the right team but haven’t been able to hit the actual first-basket scorer.

Hopefully, that changes tonight. Here are my top picks. And below is a closer look at Wizards vs. Pistons.

The Washington Wizards are terrific at earning the ball first. The Wizards have won the tip in 68% of games this year, meaning they’ve won the tip in two of every three games.

Washington has also attempted the first shot 64% of the time and has made first baskets 58% of the time. Compare that to the Pistons, who have earned just 38% of tips, 38% of first shots and 35% of first baskets.

The Wizards certainly have the edge here. The Pistons won the tip in the first game between these two teams. However, the Wizards were still able to score first.

It was Kristaps Porzingis who got the first basket in that game. He leads the Wizards with 10 first shots and nine first baskets. Porzingis, Kyle Kuzma and Bradley Beal have all been efficient in this market. But I’ll ride with Porzingis. He’s been the most consistent.
