Caitlin Clark Under 22.5 Points (-115)
The name of the game in the WNBA playoffs is “Under” – especially in Game 1s. An already physical league, referees swallow their whistles more often than not once we reach the postseason.
Clark is a fantastic player who still gets slightly elevated lines because of her popularity. In her last four games against the Aces, she has never cleared this mark, scoring 20 in August, 12 in July, and 19 last season before her injury. With Las Vegas about to go into “Mr. Hyde” mode compared to their regular-season Jekyll performance, I think they will focus on making Clark’s afternoon miserable.
Olivia Miles Under 23.5 Pts + Reb (-115)
As I sit here in my Lynx t-shirt, this pains me to write, but Olivia Miles in her first-ever playoff game against the seasoned New York Liberty is a recipe for relying on Minnesota’s veterans, not having her take over the game. The Spectacle is my new favorite basketball player, and I have watched her develop and amaze us all season, but no rookie PG has led her team to a championship in WNBA history. Cheryl Reeve will have a plan to take the pressure off her and let the other four outstanding starters do their thing. Betting the over on her 6.5 assists (+115) is a worthy plus-money bet, but I’m not counting on her for points or boards this afternoon.
Jessica Shepard Under 26.5 Pts + Ast+ Reb (-110)
Jessica Shepard is having a phenomenal season, but the Golden State Valkyries are a defensive machine and have held her in check in their two most recent matchups, where she only managed 13 and 18 in this category. Add in that the Wings have to go to Ballhalla, and I think Dallas will struggle mightily to get anything going today. Under, under, under for them.
