We are now just a couple of days away from the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby by Woodford Reserve, as 20 horses and jockeys are set to race for the first leg of the Triple Crown. With rain scheduled throughout the week, the weather could be a factor, as things hope to dry out by Saturday’s post time of 6:57 PM EST.
With no shortage of options to partake in the action, let’s catch you up on a few of the ways to tune into the coverage, starting as early as Friday.

How to Watch the 2022 Kentucky Derby
Television
Beginning on Friday at 1:00 PM EST, USA Network will begin coverage from Churchill Downs with analysis and reporting live from Kentucky. Coverage of the Longines Kentucky Oaks race will be covered on USA Network Friday as well, going until 6:00 PM EST.
As for race day, USA Network will once again begin coverage, this time at 12:00 PM EST before switching over to NBC from 2:30 – 7:30 PM EST. NBC will cover pre-race analysis not just for the main event, but the Derby’s undercard races as well.
Streaming
For those of us who have finally gotten around to cutting the cord, the options are even more endless. NBC-owned streaming service Peacock (Premium) will stream the coverage and race for the first time, which is available for download on Roku, Apple TV, and a host of other stream devices.
While Peacock will be your source for the most extensive coverage from ABC, other streaming services such as YouTube TV, DirecTV stream, and Sling TV Blue will stream the coverage noted under ‘Television’ above.
With NBC’s Mike Tirico leading the coverage once again for NBC Sports, the always-insightful analysts Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey will once again be on the call for what should be an exciting couple of days of horse racing on the biggest stage.
