2024 Paris Olympics 3×3 Basketball Odds & Picks: Tuesday (7/30)

2024 Paris Olympics 3x3 Basketball Odds & Picks: Tuesday (7/30)

The Summer Olympic Games are underway. While the traditional 5×5 basketball tournament is already entertaining fans and bettors alike, the 3×3 tournament begins on Tuesday, July 30 (men’s and women’s).

It debuted as an official Olympic event in the Tokyo Games, where Team USA's women's 3×3 squad took home the gold. The men's team failed to qualify; Latvia won the gold medal. But both are in the mix this time and ready to bring home a gold medal.

Here are the betting odds for a few games scheduled for Tuesday, along with our picks.

Tuesday’s Best Olympics 2024 3×3 Basketball Bets

The game will reminisce the one kids and adults play on playgrounds nationwide. There are no halves, the game will last 10 minutes, the first to 21 wins and you must win by two points. And there's a 12-second shot clock.

Eight teams make up the field, with every team playing seven games in the preliminary round.

Latvia vs. Lithuania – Men’s

  • Location: La Concorde 1 Paris, France
  • Game Time & Date: 12:35 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 30
Team Point Spread Total Moneyline
Latvia +1.5 (-110) O 37.5 (-120) +110
Lithuania -1.5  (-120) U 37.5 (-110) -140

Latvia is the defending gold medalist but has the third-shortest odds of winning gold in Paris (+500), behind Serbia (+180) and the USA (+200). Lithuania's odds are a bit longer at +1200. As one of the top contenders for gold, it would make sense for Latvia to be favored, but they aren't.

They won their qualifying tournament, destroying their first three opponents before winning behind gritty performances vs. Netherlands (15-14 OT) and Austria (19-14). Nauris Miezis, the tournament MVP, led the way with 7.8 points per game (PPG).

Lithuania also won its qualifying tournament but went 4-1 after losing to Germany in their third game, 18-16. Aurelijus Pukelis led the way with 7 PPG, followed by Evaldas Džiaugys (5.6).

Based on how both teams played in their respective qualifying tournaments, this contest should be an excellent game between two outstanding teams - a potential medal game preview. Lativa appears to be the better team on paper, though. There is certainly no reason why they can't win this game.

Pick: Latvia +110

Germany vs. USA – Women’s

  • Location: La Concorde 1 in Paris, France
  • Game Time & Date: 11:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, July 30
Team Point Spread Total Moneyline
Germany +5.5 (-120) O 33.5 (-110) -500
USA -5.5  (-110) U 33.5 (-120) +340

Team USA won the gold in Tokyo and are heavy favorites (-120) to win again this year. Germany, on the other hand, is a significant longshot at +3500.

If Germany were to win, it would be the upset of the Olympics. While it would make for an incredible payout, don't bank on that happening. A better question would be whether Team USA will cover the spread.

These two teams played in the Tokyo Games, a contest Team USA won 21-12. While there are a few changes to each roster, there is no reason to think Germany will be competitive. Based on what we saw in the qualifying tournament, Germany will not have enough offense to keep up.

In a traditional game, 5.5 points would not be significant, but in 3×3, when teams play to 21, it is. But that will not stop Team USA from covering.

Pick: USA -5.5

Serbia vs. USA – Men’s

  • Location: La Concorde 1 in Paris, France
  • Game Time & Date: 4:35 p.m. E.T. on Tuesday, July 30
Team Point Spread Total Moneyline
Serbia -1.5 (-120) O 37.5 (-125) -110
USA +1.5  (-110) U 37.5 (-105) -120

If you have never watched a 3×3 basketball game, watch this one featuring the two best 3×3 teams in the world. Serbia sits atop the power rankings heading into the tournament (Team USA is No. 2) and they are the betting favorites to win gold at +180. The U.S. has the second shortest odds at +200.

Serbia fell short in Tokyo but has won the last two World Cup Championships (2022 and 2023). The team’s leader, Strahinja Stojacic, is the No. 1 player in the world, according to the FIBA individual world rankings. Serbia’s roster contains three of the top 10 players in the world: Dejan Majstorovic, Marko Brankovic and Stojacic.

The No. 2 ranked player is Team USA leader Jimmer Fredette. He has a solid group in Canyon Barry, Kareem Maddox, and Dylan Travis. They did play well against Serbia in the 2023 FIBA World Cup title game but lost  21-19.

However, it is worth noting Fredette’s Miami team on the FIBA World Tour is ranked No. 1. Stojacic’s team ranks a close second.

This game will likely be a lot like the 2023 FIBA World Cup title game; it might even end with the same score. However, it is hard to say who will have 21 and who will have 19. Either way, the over wins.

Pick: Over 37.5 Points (-125)
