Wednesday’s Best The Basketball Tournament (TBT) Picks
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Stars of Storrs (-3.5) vs. We Are D3 (+142), O/U 154.5 (-110/-110)
The Stars of Storrs cruised through the first round with a relatively easy 90-78 win over the Brown Ballers. Their second-round matchup vs. the Green Mountain Men was much more competitive. The game was tied at 38-38 at halftime and remained close throughout. A late Ryan Boatright three put the Storrs up for good.
As for We Are D3, they were the underdogs in their second-round matchup with one of the No. 1 seeds, Boheim's Army. When they fell behind early at 13-3, the outlook was certainly bleak. However, they were able to bounce back and had the lead going into the Elam Ending.
Ty Nichols recorded 36 points, the highest single-game total of the Tournament so far.
It took a lot of discipline for We Are D3 to stage their comeback vs. BA, along with some really good defensive play. These guys were not major college superstars and easy to overlook, but they play really well together. If they can pull off an upset vs. BA, they can pull off another one here.
Pick: We Are D3 Moneyline (+142)
Heartfire (-3.5) vs. JHX Hoops (+142), O/U 152.5 (-110/-110)
Heartfire got ahead early against their second-round opponent and never looked back, winning 89-70. Of course, it's easy not to feel the need to when your team goes 14-of-29 from three-point range. Four of their five starters hit multiple threes, led by Tevin Mack with four (and 20 points). JHX Hoops had a much tougher time vs. their second-round opponent, Purple Reign, winning a defensive battle by two, 59-57.
Heartfire is a solid three-point shooting team; JHX Hoops is not (6-of-20 in first round; 2-of-15). Unless they can find a way to hit a few more threes, JHX Hoops will lose by much more than 3.5 points.
Pick: Heartfire -3.5 (-110)
Sideline Cancer (-3.5) vs. LA Ignite (+142), O/U 151.5 (-110/-110)
Sideline Cancer barely escaped the first round, beating Madd Katts 84-82. Their second-round appointment didn't put much of a fight, as they led The Ville 47-26 a the half. They went on to win 73-63. The LA Ignite took charge early in their first-round matchup, going up by 16 (28-12) after the first and cruising to a 93-82 win. They needed a massive fourth quarter to overcome Team 901, 83-79.
Neither plays great defense, and they aren't bad on the offensive end. I'm not sure who will win this one, but I see each team scoring 75-80 points. Take the Over.
Pick: Over 151.5 Total Points (-110)
