With the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes in the rearview mirror, it’s time for the 2026 Belmont Stakes. The final jewel of the triple crown, the Test of the Champion, is typically the longest of the three races at a full 1.5 miles. However, the 2026 Belmont Stakes will run at the historic Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., rather than at Belmont Park, for the third year in a row, as renovations continue at the race's usual home. That means the distance is being reduced from 1.5 miles to 1.25 miles due to the difference in the tracks’ circumferences. Below, we take a look at the current Belmont Stakes odds, post position, and expert advice for Vitruvian Man.
Vitruvian Man Belmont Stakes Predictions
- Post Position: 1
- Odds: 30-1
It hasn't been a busy year for Vitruvian Man with just one race to his name this year, a third-place finish at the Santa Anita Derby on April 4. It was his second third place finish out of six career races. He has one win, at Keeneland on October 18, 2025, along with a second, fifth, and fourth place finish. His trainer, Doug O'Neil, is a two-time Kentucky Derby winner but has yet to win the Belmont Stakes. This will be the first Belmont Stakes for jockey Antonio Fresu who rode Vitruvian Man in April's third place finish at Santa Anita. Belmont is a step up in class for Vitruvian Man, who O'Neil says has been progressing and could do better than his odds would indicate. While that may be true, as a longshot, it will not take much for that to happen. He's a nice story known more for his ownership group than his racing. Pass.
