2026 Preakness Stakes Predictions: Robusta
- Post Position: 4
- Odds: 30-1
Results have been mixed for Robusta since starting his racing career last year. He got started with a seventh-place finish at Del Mar in his debut (November 22, 2025), but then followed that race up with his first and only win (to date) at Santa Anita on January 9, 2026. But since then, he has finished sixth (February 7), second (March 7), and seventh (April 4) at Santa Anita. He ran in the Kentucky Derby a couple of weeks ago and placed 14th in the field. Robusta was trained by Doug O'Neill, who has won the Kentucky Derby (2012 and 2016) along with the Preakness (2012). He'll be ridden by Rafael Bejarano. Many believe that we have yet to see the best that Robusta has to offer, but I do not think I'd count on seeing it at the Preakness. He's been competitive in a stakes race before but has yet to win one. Doing most of his racing at Santa Anita could be hurting him in the long runs since he doesn't have experience running on different tracks. This one's a long shot for a reason. Put your money elsewhere.
