Saturday's Best Women’s NCAA Tournament Picks & Predictions: Sweet 16

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Kentucky Wildcats (+800) vs. Texas Longhorns (-14.5) | O/U 131.5 (-110/-110)

Kentucky is 32-1 ATS against +14.5 points this season. The only team to beat them by 15+ was No. 1 seed South Carolina in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals. Outside of that, the only other team to cover even as much as 11.5 was Mississippi State in a 71-59 home win over Kentucky back on January 18.

Clara Strack leads the Wildcats with her double-double average (16.9 points/10.3 rebounds) and 16 double-doubles on the season, including in the first two rounds of the Tournament. She’s also 6’5" and one of three Wildcats measuring 6'4"+. She’s the lead tree in the Kentucky Forest, averaging 2.5 blocks per game.

Kentucky is back in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2016. Head coach Kenny Brooks is back for the first time since 2023 when he took Virginia Tech to the Final Four with Georgia Amoore.

Yes, Texas is a No. 1 seed but they are the consensus most vulnerable No. 1 so if you are feeling froggish, leap at the +800 with a sprinkle.

Pick: Kentucky +14.5 (-110) & Kentucky Moneyline (+800)

Virginia Cavaliers (+380) vs. TCU Horned Frogs (-9.5) | O/U 130.5 (-110/-110)

Virginia is 29-4 on the season when getting 9.5 points. This includes 14-2 in their last 16 games since losing 79-60 to Syracuse on January 11, nearly 2.5 months ago. They have a couple of 12-point losses and a 13-point loss in their 33 games but covering 9.5 points represents a nearly 88% hit rate this season. Hammer it.

Junior guard Kymora Johnson has taken the Cavaliers on her back. She averages 19.5 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds on the season and has dropped 28 in back-to-back games this tournament. She is averaging 24.3 points across the last three games. The 5'7" hometown guard will not go away quietly, certainly not by double-digits.

Like above, if you are feeling froggish, fade the Horned Frogs and sprinkle a bit on the Hoos' moneyline.

Pick: Virginia Cavaliers +9.5 (-110) & Virginia Cavaliers Moneyline (+380)
