Team USA vs. Canada

  • Leg 1: Team USA Moneyline (-108
  • Leg 2: Connor Hellebuyck Under 27.5 Saves (-130)
  • Leg 3: Sidney Crosby 1+ Points (-130)

We should expect another classic game between two bitter rivals based on how the previous matchup went down. It did not take long for each team in the first Team USA vs. Canada game to show their disdain for each other. As soon as the puck dropped, so did the gloves. We got two fights moments after the first two faceoffs, then seven seconds of actual gameplay before the fists started flying for the third time. With this being a championship game, referees usually hinder the actual fighting, so we might not see any in this game.

That doesn't mean there won't be any physicality; these teams traded blows throughout the last game, combining for 64 hits. It will get physical along the boards, so anticipate a lot of aggressive play. Look for that specifically from the blue line, as each played tremendously in the last matchup and will be pressuring in the neutral zone. Team USA has been especially great on defense and at preventing high-danger shots throughout this tournament.

The last game only saw four goals, but each team has tremendous talent at the forward position. At any time on the ice, you'll likely see multiple Hart Trophy and Conn Smythe winners, so if each team plays up to its strength, the offense could take over.

When you analyze each team head-to-head, they are almost even in every aspect except one. The goaltending far sways in favor of Team USA, with Connor Hellebuyck in net. He's been fantastic, allowing just two goals and sporting a .957 save percentage in two games. Canada goalie Jordan Binnington has not been nearly as good, allowing eight goals with a .891 save percentage in three games.

Hellebuyck has been the catalyst in his two games. He kept Finland quiet till the offense was able to have that four-goal third period, then again with only a one-goal lead for most of the game against Canada. This has all the makings of another classic, but Team USA should edge out Canada for a 4 Nations Face-Off title.
