The 2026 college football regular season gets underway with Week 0 action on Saturday. We have a total of eight games on the schedule, including North Carolina and TCU opening the season at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, at 12:00 p.m. ET on ESPN. The night wraps up with Memphis and UNLV meeting at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas at 10:00 p.m. ET on FOX for the first-ever meeting. NC State and Virginia were supposed to kick off their seasons in Rio de Janeiro, but those plans fell through, and the matchup was moved to Scott Stadium in Charlottesville. You might think that’s an advantage for the Cavaliers, but there are a lot of changes from last season’s team.
For the Wolfpack, quarterback CJ Bailey is back under center, and he looks to lead his team to another win over the Cavaliers. He engineered a 35-31 win over them last season at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, thanks to a 30-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a 12-yard score in the fourth. Bailey finished with 44 rushing yards and the two scores, while also throwing for 200 yards and a touchdown.
Virginia makes the change from quarterback Chandler Morris to Beau Pribula, formerly of Missouri. I’ll take stability from year-to-year, especially at center, over a new quarterback settling into a new system for his first game any day of the year.
In this era of the transfer portal, any stability you can get from the previous season is huge. Let’s take NC State with the points, and we’ll go low on the total, as the under is 4-0 in the past four meetings in Virginia since October 28th, 2006.
Looking at player props, Bailey had two rushing scores against Virginia last season, and he is a good bet for an anytime touchdown in the opener, especially at near 3-1 odds.

New Mexico State Aggies (+3500) vs. Florida State Seminoles (-20000) | O/U 53.5 (-112/-108)
- Leg 1: Under 53.5 Points (-108)
- Leg 2: New Mexico State Under 67.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
- Leg 3: Duce Robinson Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+500)
These teams meet for just the second time in school history. Florida State won the previous meeting 36-0 back on October 3rd, 1964, and we are likely to have a similarly lopsided score 62 years later.
The Aggies won just four games last season. They were destroyed 42-9 at Tennessee in its only matchup against a power-conference team, although New Mexico State did cover as a 41.5-point underdog, while the under (59.5) cashed.
The Seminoles open the season under head coach Mike Norvell, and he needs to get back the magic he showed back in 2023. Florida State is just 7-17 in the past two seasons, and the time is now to get back on track, or Norvell might be looking at a pink slip.
Quarterback Ashton Daniels leads the Seminoles, and he brings plenty of collegiate experience after stops at Stanford and Auburn.
Daniels and receiver Duce Robinson look to get off to a very quick start, and they should do just that against an undersized New Mexico State defense. We’re going to bank on Robinson as an anytime touchdown scorer in this one, especially for the chance at +500 odds.
I don’t like the side, as we could be very close to the number in a 42-10 kind of game. However, the under is worth a look. And we’ll go low on the rushing total for New Mexico State. Sacks count in college football as yardage against a team’s rushing total, and the Seminoles should bring plenty of pressure all night. Adding the Robinson prop could make for a lucrative SGP.

Memphis Tigers (+155) vs. UNLV Rebels (-192) | O/U 56.5 (-110/-110)
- Leg 1: UNLV -4.5 (-105)
- Leg 2: Over 56.5 Points (-110)
- Leg 3: Jai’Den Thomas – Over 84.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
Memphis and UNLV meet for the first time ever, and we get the first game at the helm for Charles Huff as head coach of the Tigers, too.
The Rebels have the difference maker in RB Jai’Den Thomas, and he should be able to take advantage of a Tigers defense which is trying to figure things out. There are new starters all over on both sides of the ball. While Memphis’ approach should generally be the same, with plenty of offense, especially from QBs Air Noland and/or Marcus Stokes, it remains to be seen how well the offense comes together. But, the Rebels defense is also inexperienced, and the Tigers should take advantage there.
Let’s take UNLV to get the job done at home, while going high on the total, as both sides take advantage facing inexperienced defenses. And, we’ll go with Thomas to go high on the rushing total, perhaps even hitting triple digits.
