Milwaukee Brewers vs. New York Yankees
Corbin Burnes vs. Gerrit Cole
It doesn’t get any better than this.
Let’s start with Burnes. Burnes is a right-handed pitcher for the Brewers who has struck out nearly 35% of batters over the last month. However, he’s struggled against righties, allowing a .261 ISO and wOBA of .395 to his previous 73 righties.
Burnes has been dominant against lefties. However, the Yankees will likely have seven righties in the lineup tonight against Burnes. Those righties, including Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, have hit a .237 ISO and wOBA of .336 against righties last month.
DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, and Anthony Volpe have all hit a high ISO and wOBA against righties, along with Judge and Stanton’s high ISO numbers.
Meanwhile, Cole has struck out nearly 29% of batters in the last month. He’s also struggled against righties, allowing a .242 ISO and wOBA of .344 to his previous 65 righties. However, the Brewers are not hitting righties like the Yankees are. Milwaukee’s projected lineup has hit a .124 ISO and wOBA of .309 against righties over the last month.
Only Willy Adames has a ton of potential against Cole.
Let’s take the Yankees in this matchup.
Bet: Yankees Moneyline (-130)
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Chicago Cubs
Brandon Pfaadt vs. Kyle Hendricks
The Arizona Diamondbacks will start Brandon Pfaadt for today’s matchup against the Cubs. Pfaadt is a rookie pitcher who has allowed a .255 ISO and wOBA of .376 this season. In the last month, the numbers have dipped a bit. However, he’s still allowed a .186 ISO and wOBA of .343 to his previous 114 batters.
Lefties have smacked a .310 ISO and wOBA of .377 against the right-hander over the last month. He’ll have to face Ian Happ and Cody Bellinger, two lefties with much power against righties.
On the other hand, Kyle Hendricks will get the call. The Cubs veteran right-hander has only struck out 17.6% of batters in the last month. However, he’s also held teams to a .110 ISO and wOBA of .286 in the previous 30 days. Hendricks has earned 50% of grounders and has limited fly balls to 11.5% over the last month.
He’s also held righties to a .035 ISO and wOBA of .226 over the last 60 at-bats. Four of the five Diamondbacks that have hit above-average numbers are right-handed. Only Corbin Carroll is a left-handed batter, hitting well against righties in the Arizona lineup.
Give me the Cubs.
Bet: Cubs (-152)
