MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Picks & Predictions: Sunday (6/11)

MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Picks & Predictions: Sunday (6/11)

We have a full 15-game slate in the MLB today, and the games get underway as early as 12:35 p.m. ET with the Diamondbacks taking on the Tigers. All action leads to a Sunday Night Baseball showdown between the Red Sox and Yankees.

There's certainly no shortage of betting options available throughout the day. I'm focusing on one of the most exciting bets in baseball - the NRFI. Here are my top three bets on No Runs First Inning props today.

MLB YTD: 43-75 (+8.35 Units)

Houston Astros vs. Cleveland Guardians

The Astros snapped their four-game skid yesterday, beating the Guardians 6-4 in Cleveland. They'll have an opportunity to win the series this afternoon when they send Brandon Bielak to the bump. The Guardians counter with Shane Bieber in this American League tilt scheduled for 12:40 p.m. ET from Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH.

There seem to be more and more murmurings surrounding the potential that Bieber will make for a great trade piece at the deadline this year. The right-hander is throwing well this year as he's 4-3 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Now, as for this specific matchup, I think he'll be able to keep a clean first frame. Bieber's ERA dips to 2.32 at home, and opponents are hitting just .228 against him.

On the flip side, Bielak has stepped up and become a reliable option for Houston. The right-hander comes into today's game at 3-2 with a 3.35 ERA and 1.51 WHIP. Considering he's taking on one of the worst offenses in baseball, I expect him to find success. Cleveland is ranked just 21st overall in team batting average (.240) and 28th in WHIP (.668). We should be in for a lower-scoring affair in Ohio today, and I'm rolling with the NRFI prop in this spot.

Minnesota Twins vs. Toronto Blue Jays

The Twins will go for the three-game sweep this afternoon when they send Louie Varland to the mound. The Blue Jays will try to salvage a game by giving Kevin Gausman the nod. First pitch for the series finale is scheduled for 1:37 p.m. ET from Rogers Centre in Toronto, ON.

Gausman has developed into the ace of this Toronto pitching staff. The right-hander is 5-3 this season with a 2.63 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. He's also riding a hot streak right now where he's allowed just two earned runs over his last three starts (19.0 IP). Considering the injuries to Byron Buxton and Joey Gallo, we should see Gausman carve up the lowly Twins offense today. They're just 25th in team batting average this year (.230).

Varland just started against the Blue Jays back on May 26th. The right-hander lasted 6.0 innings and limited Toronto to just three earned runs in a 3-1 loss. The NRFI cashed in that game. Minnesota as a team is also riding a streak of six consecutive NRFIs. All things considered, I think we'll have a great chance to see a scoreless first frame.

Bet: No Runs First Inning (-120)

Oakland Athletics vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The lowly Athletics notched their fourth consecutive victory yesterday, beating the Brewers 2-1 in 10 innings. They'll turn to JP Sears this afternoon as they go for the three-game sweep. Milwaukee comes back with Freddy Peralta in this interleague tilt scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET from American Family Field.

One of my favorite bets this year has been fading the Brewers in some capacity when they're facing a left-handed pitcher. The Crew ranks dead last in baseball in both team batting average (.211) and OPS (.634) when squaring off against LHP. They'll take on JP Sears today, who has actually been solid this year - especially compared to the rest of the rotation. He's 0-3 with a 4.20 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.

Milwaukee counters with Peralta, and he'll likely be locked in as this team does not want to get swept at home by the 16-win Athletics. The right-hander has excelled at home, where his ERA drops to 3.41 while his WHIP sits at 1.19. Opponents are hitting just .229 against him at AmFam Field. Oakland is arguably the worst offense overall this year, as they're 29th in both team batting average (.224) and OPS (.663). NRFI is definitely the play in this game.
