Kyle Schwarber 2+ Total Bases (+120)
Heading into today’s pivotal Game 3, both teams have been a bit indecisive about the pitching matchup for this winner-take-all battle. However, it’s perfectly clear that designated hitter Kyle Schwarber will be in the lineup. No matter who he faces, Schwarber should be quite productive.
The 33-year-old slugger had a solo home run in Game 2, a 4-3 victory that went 10 innings, and he is 2-for-8 with two runs, a walk and an RBI. He also has struck out four times, but you have to take the good with the bad.
Alec Bohm Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-108)
Alec Bohm has had a decent series so far, going 3-for-8 (.375) with a double, a solo home run, a walk and two RBIs in two games. The good news is that he hasn’t struck out in five games, dating back to a regular-season game against the Milwaukee Brewers on September 24th.
Bohm is a good bet to record at least two combined hits + runs + RBIs. Let’s hope for another home run to cash this ticket rather easily. It appears the Braves will roll with righty Grant Holmes for Game 3, so that gives us a little pause. Bohm is hitless in 10 career at-bats with two strikeouts against Holmes, so proceed with caution.
Drake Baldwin Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-108)
At near even-money, Drake Baldwin is a strong play to cash the over on this prop. Baldwin was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in Game 2 on Wednesday, but he also struck out twice. Baldwin has been a little erratic lately, alternating hits and hitless games in the past seven games.
The Phillies are expected to use either righty Aaron Nola and/or righty Zack Wheeler. Circle back around when the pitching matchup is finalized. If manager Don Mattingly elects to go with Nola, bet more aggressively on this play.
Baldwin is 5-for-11 (.455) in his career against Nola, while just 1-for-8 (.125) with four strikeouts against Wheeler. Either way, though, let’s take a shot on Baldwin in Game 3. He runs hot or cold, but when he makes contact, he can cash this prop with a single swing.
Trea Turner Over 0.5 Runs (+110)
Trea Turner went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday’s Game 2, and he is hitting just .125 (1-for-8) in the series. However, he hit out of the leadoff spot in Game 2, and he is a good bet to score at least one run at plus-money odds if he remains in the top spot.
Bryce Harper Over 1.5 Total Bases (+135)
You have to try and find value, and Bryce Harper at plus-money odds for two total bases is one of those plays. He took care of business with one swing of the bat in Game 2, swatting a solo homer and driving in a run with a single.
Harper has hit safely in five of the past six games, and he has two homers in that span, averaging 2.2 total bases per game. This is a really attractive play.
