The first weekend of the MLB season is here. Every team has at least one game under its belt at this point. But that’s too soon to judge how well anyone is going to play. Will rookies show out? Which veterans are going to step up? How should you approach betting on MLB player props this weekend?
After doing some homework, these are the best player prop markets for Saturday's games.

Saturday’s Top MLB Player Props
(Odds courtesy of bet365)
Pete Crow-Armstrong Over 0.5 Home Runs (+350) & 2+ Hits (+210)
After signing his new massive deal in the offseason, Pete Crow-Armstrong would love to show his appreciation with his first home run of the season, and he is in a good situation to get it today. Nationals starter Miles Mikolas gave up nine home runs in his last two starts in Chicago. Crow-Armstrong is 7-for-9 in his career against Mikolas with five home runs.
If you do not want to roll the dice on him to hit a home run, Crow-Armstrong had two hits in the season opener. With his history versus Mikolas, betting on him to get two hits today is a solid value play.
Jacob deGrom Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+120)
Despite a lackluster outing, Nathan Eovaldi recorded seven strikeouts in 4.2 innings versus the Phillies yesterday. Over the years, Jacob deGrom has faced Phillies hitters 177 times and struck out 69 of them.
With that kind of history, I love deGrom’s chances of going deeper than Eovaldi and hitting the over on his strikeouts prop today.
David Peterson Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-130)
David Peterson is not known as a big-time strikeout pitcher, but he did get the majority of his punchouts last season on the road (83 to 67). He faced the Pirates twice last season, recording five and seven strikeouts in those games.
In his limited experience against Pittsburgh's lineup, Peterson has recorded 22 strikeouts in 63 at-bats. Freddy Peralta, who started the opener versus the Pirates, recorded seven strikeouts in five innings of work.
Pete Alonso Over 0.5 Home Runs (+450)
The Mets did not want to pay slugger Pete Alonso what he's worth, but the Orioles were happy to step in and do so. Alonso hit 38 home runs last season and has hit 34+ in each of his last five seasons.
During his time with the Mets, Alonso played in Baltimore 10 times, hitting five home runs. Last season, Oriole Park at Camden Yards was the second-most home run-friendly ballpark in the league (121).
In three career at-bats versus Twins starter Taj Bradley, Alonso has one home run. After going hitless in the opener, he'll be looking to give fans something to cheer about today.
