Wednesday's MLB slate features some very interesting matchups on both sides of the ball. I have found a few spots that I believe will prove fruitful for us. Here are my three favorite MLB player props for Wednesday, August 19, 2026. As always, make sure you shop for the best prices available.

Wednesday's Best MLB Player Prop Bets
(All bets are one unit, unless otherwise specified.)
Joshua Baez Under 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (-141 at Caesars)
Oh, how quickly the tides can turn in the world of sports betting. Yesterday I bet on Joshua Baez to hit a home run, and today I am betting against him recording more than one combined hit, run, and run batted in. I promise that I am not solely changing course because Baez was the only player I picked yesterday who didn't go deep, although it would be nice to get a lick back. The main reason I am fading Baez on Wednesday is Chase Burns.
Burns is on the bump for the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. The 23-year-old has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season. He enters this matchup with a 14-2 record and 2.47 ERA. Burns has been especially dominant at home and against right-handed hitters this year.
Burns has an overall ERA of 1.98 ERA in 12 starts at Great American Ballpark and has been even better since the beginning of May. In eight home starts since May 1, Burns is 6-0 and has given up eight earned runs and 28 hits in 46 innings. This year he has faced 101 right-handed batters at home. Those hitters have combined for a .135 batting average, .178 on-base percentage, and .198 slugging percentage.
Baez has not been as bad as his current 0-for-18 streak would have you believe. Still, this is a daunting matchup, and Baez has yet to have any success against right-handed pitchers over his first few Major League games. He is 0-for-10 with an expected batting average of just .220 versus righties thus far. Even if Baez were to hit his way aboard against Burns, there is no guarantee it would result in a run or RBI given how good Burns has been.
Cincinnati also has three fresh right-handed relievers who can match up with Baez, should the situation warrant it on Wednesday. Luis Mey, Pierce Johnson, and Emilio Pagan have combined for 17.1 scoreless innings in August.
This does not feel like the day Baez breaks out of his mini slump. I am betting on Baez to stay quiet, and I am taking the Under on his HRRBI player prop on Wednesday.
Walbert Urena Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (+100 at Fanatics)
For my next MLB player prop, I am taking the Under on Walbert Urena's Hits Allowed number. The rookie has held opposing hitters to a .199 batting average this season. His expected batting average against also sits at .199. That is the third-lowest mark among 162 pitchers who have allowed a minimum of 200 batted balls in play. He has gone under this number in 14 of 20 starts during his rookie campaign and has been particularly stingy in recent weeks.
Since the beginning of July, Urena has only given up five or more hits in one of seven starts. He has limited the opposition to two or fewer hits in four of those outings. At the same time, walks have been an issue. Urena has walked 20 batters compared to just 19 hits allowed over those seven outings.
Urena has also had prior success against the Houston Astros so far this year. Astros hitters have just six hits in 51 plate appearances against the Angels' right-hander. Houston's hitters have walked nine times in those meetings. Wednesday's lineup is likely to feature four or five Astros batters who have a walk rate north of 10 percent against right-handed pitchers this year.
Based on the information above, I prefer the Under on Urena's hits allowed prop as opposed to his earned runs allowed number. It also helps that we are getting a much better price.
Shohei Ohtani Over 2.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (-137 at DraftKings)
Pick a Dodger, any Dodger. I honestly considered just picking three different Dodger hitting props and calling it a day. Ultimately, I landed on Shohei Ohtani's HRRBI player prop. The number is 2.5 rather than the standard 1.5, but it is justified by the factors involved in Wednesday's series finale. And I am quite comfortable taking the Over.
Ohtani and the Dodgers are facing Kyle Freeland on Wednesday. To say that he and Los Angeles have Freeland's number would be an understatement. Since the beginning of the 2023 season, Freeland has faced the Dodgers seven times. He has allowed 50 hits and 31 earned runs in those starts. The craziest part is that five of those seven matchups occurred in Dodger Stadium. Wednesday's game is at Coors Field, where Ohtani is even more otherworldly than normal.
Ohtani has a 22-game hitting streak in Colorado. He has 39 total hits in those games, including 10 home runs and 20 extra-base hits. He has recorded at least three combined hits, runs, and RBI in 19 of those 22 contests. Ohtani is 9-for-16 with a double and three lifetime home runs against the Rockies' left-hander. No matter how you slice it, this matchup is about as good as it gets for Ohtani.
Ohtani's total base prop is heavily juiced if you want the Over on 1.5. I don't mind going over 2.5 total bases, but at that point I would rather just bet on him to hit a home run at a more favorable price. Instead, I am taking Ohtani to have at least three total hits, runs, and runs batted in.
