WNBA Player Props & Bets: Wednesday (8/19)

There are two WNBA games tonight, including a great matchup between the Lynx and Valkyries. Below, I explain what to expect from Olivia Miles and Gabby Williams in that game, then I highlight the expectations for Shakira Austin against the Tempo.

Here are the best WNBA player prop bets for Wednesday, August 19.

Tuesday’s Best WNBA Player Prop Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.)

Shakira Austin Over 10.5 Rebounds (-122

Shakira Austin has been phenomenal in August, grabbing at least 11 rebounds in four of her six games. Even in the games where she failed to reach double digits, she still managed eight boards in each contest.

Now, Austin gets to lead the top-rebounding team in the league against a Tempo team that is allowing 34.6 per game this season. Austin has already faced the Tempo three times this season, pulling down at least 10 rebounds in each game and grabbing 11 rebounds twice. While none of these performances justify the price being greater than -120, the truth remains that Austin's floor against the Tempo is simply too high to pass up this prop.

Another thing worth mentioning is that the Tempo are allowing the most offensive rebounds per game. Austin is averaging 1.9 per contest this season, which ranks top 15 in the league.

Gabby Williams Over 1.5 Made 3-Pointers (+102)

Williams enters tonight's game averaging 1.7 made 3-pointers per contest. That's the second-most on the Valkyries. While she's struggled a bit this month, failing to make a 3-pointer in three of her six games, she's made at least two in her other three performances.

The Valkyries are averaging 10.8 made 3-pointers per game, which is third-most in the league. While the Lynx are allowing opponents to make the third-lowest percentage of 3-pointers in the WNBA, they're also allowing 9.1 makes per contest. That's tied for the fifth-most in the league.

Williams has already faced the Lynx twice this season, making three total 3-pointers. While she only made one shot from beyond the arc in her first meeting with the Lynx, she also shot just 2-of-10 from the floor, her second-worst shooting performance of the season. This is a player shooting 42.1% from the floor and 34.2% from deep, and in what should be a high-scoring game, I'll gladly back her to make two 3-pointers for a great price.

Olivia Miles Under 6.5 Assists (+114)

I get that Miles has at least seven assists in four consecutive games, including 13 against the Wings on August 9. However, for the price of this Over to be set north of -150 while the price for the Under is at +114 is crazy to me.

Miles has faced the Valkyries twice this season. In the first meeting, she recorded seven assists, but in the second meeting, she managed just four. For as well as Miles has played lately, she's still averaging 6.1 assists per game, which is less than the posted total. And in her last game of July, she recorded zero assists despite playing 23 minutes, showing she has a very low floor.

Then there is the fact that the Valkyries are allowing the fewest assists in the league. They're giving up just 18.2 per game, which is 0.8 fewer than any other team. If Miles were against any other team, I'd understand this line. However, the Valkyries are the best defensive team in the league.
