Who has a chance to go yard tonight in MLB, and what values are the books hanging out there for baseball bettors to take advantage of? Here are my best bets to hit a home run today, Saturday, Aug. 5.
Saturday’s Best Player to Hit a Home Run Bets
Kyle Schwarber (+240) & Brandon Marsh (+550)
Play with caution!
I say this because the Phillies’ offense can be non-existent at times. Today we have a good matchup for the Phillies offense. They get to feast on Royals pitcher Alec Marsh.
Marsh is 0-5 with a 6.75 ERA. His advanced numbers are just as bad as his xERA is 5.89, and his xFIP is 5.62.
He has allowed an HR in each of his starts this season, including seven over his last four starts.
Kyle Schwarber leads the Phillies in HRs against RHP. I also couldn’t pass up a Marsh on Marsh Matchup.
Brandon Marsh owns a .189 ISO against RHP, which is 3rd highest on the Phillies.
Jose Ramirez (+450) & Bo Naylor (+600)
The Guardians just saw Michael Kopech last week. In that game, Jose Ramirez hit two HRs, and Steven Kwan hit another. Kopech's HR/9 of 2.11 is the second highest among today’s starters, trailing only Alec Marsh.
Jose leads the Guardians in HRs and ISO against RHP, while Bo Naylor has the second-highest ISO. The only thing that may hold us back is Tito does not like to play Nayor in back-to-back games, but since this is a later game, we may get lucky.
Wait until the starting lineups are announced before putting in Bo Naylor.
Matt Olson (+215) & Ronald Acuna (+350)
Matt Olson is one of the hottest players in the MLB. He is batting .311 with eight HRs, and he leads the team in HRs (32) against right-handed pitchers.
Ronald Acuna Jr. has had a lot of success against the Cubs in his career. Among current Cubs pitchers, he is batting .291 with four HRs in 31 at-bats. While he hasn’t seen Javier Assad yet, he does have two HRs against other Cubs relievers (Jose Cuas and Adbert Alzolay), who we may see in today’s game.
Cubs starter Javier Assad is starting for the second time this season, and is assumed he will be used as an opener. His first start earlier this year came against the Dodgers, in which he gave up two runs on three hits over three innings. Two of those three hits were home runs.
