Talk about an incredible start to the season. Christopher Morel saw his first appearance of 2023 on May 9 and hit safely in his first 13 games of the year. During that stretch, he scored a run in 12 consecutive games, and he has nine home runs.
On Thursday, Morel saw his first hitless game of the season. He was 0-4 with one strikeout. Yet, we like him to start a new hitting streak tonight against Hunter Green. He is 2-6 against Greene in his career, with one double. Just because he had one off night does not mean we should avoid one of the hottest bats in the game.

What are we supposed to make of Matthew Liberatore? In his first Major League start, he went 5.0 innings, allowed three hits and no runs and struck out six. Then in his second outing, he pitched just 1.0 innings, struck out one and gave up two runs.
Tonight, he will go against the Cleveland Guardians, the team that has struck out the least amount of times of any this season. That's a bad matchup for a young pitcher that is not guaranteed to go deep into the game. He could go over this number, but it would take a very good outing. When that's the case, it's never bad to fade a young pitcher.
It seems like every time I pick Shohei Ohtani, he has an off night. But with his total base number fluctuating between 1.5 and 0.5, it seems almost necessary to take his over every time he's listed at the lower number.
Ohtani is just 1-4 against Miami Marlins starter Jesus Luzardo in his career, but that one hit was a home run. Additionally, Ohtani has hit safely in four of his last five games, but he has only had one multi-hit game in his last seven. His bat has cooled from the beginning of the season, but he is poised to get something going against a pitcher that’s allowed 59 hits this season.
