This Season: 49-61
Alex Cobb has struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games. So what will change tonight to prevent him from hitting that number again?
He is coming off the 15-day IL after suffering an oblique strain. However, that move felt more like a safety move for the Giants than an absolutely necessary one. Cobb will be facing a Mets team that doesn't strike out much, but he has already had success this season against teams that strike out infrequently.
The injury may scare some, but this number is too low for a pitcher who has found his groove.
Hopefully, we're not jumping in too late here. Shohei Ohtani has never faced Diamondbacks' starter Tommy Henry, but the pitcher has given up at least seven hits in his last three games.
Ohtani is in the midst of an unbelievable stretch right now. He has hit safely in seven consecutive games, and he has five home runs during that time. Funny enough, he has gone over 1.5 total bases in each of his last seven games, except the one where the Angels beat the Rockies 25-1. Henry gives up a lot of hits, and Ohtani is red-hot right now. There is no reason to expect that to change tonight.

We're taking a bit of a risk with our final play of the day. Byron Buxton is an all-or-nothing type of hitter. He has not hit a single since June 20, and he just recently had a five-game hitless streak.
However, tonight, he faces Dean Kremer, a pitcher that has allowed 98 hits in 88.0 innings, including 17 home runs. Buxton has never faced Kremer before. Yet, when Buxton records hits, he seems to go on streaks. Only once all season has he hit safely in a game without hitting safely in either the game before or after it.
