Friday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
Eovaldi started the season incredibly well, but he has not been himself in September after missing the whole month of August. Though the Texas Rangers are 4-1 in his starts this month, he's thrown just 15.2 innings and struck out only 16 batters.
Though Eovaldi has struck out more than four in just one of his last eight games, the team he posted that number against is the team he's facing tonight. Striking out has been a serious problem for the Seattle Mariners. They're second in the league in total strikeouts. Tonight, they face a pitcher who has struck them out 13 times in two starts this season. Because of that, we love Eovaldi's over.
This past Sunday, Lynn struck out six San Francisco Giants in 6.0 innings. In his career, he has struck out batters in this lineup 25 times in 82 at-bats. This season, Lynn has struck out 187 batters in 177.2 innings.
The Giants are seventh in the MLB in total strikeouts. Based on the current numbers, they could end the year in the top five. Lynn has had some very poor strikeout performances of late. There was a five-game stretch where he never struck out more than three. But after back-to-back six-strikeout games, everything is pointing to Lynn hitting this over, or at worst, pushing.
Seeing Olivares' total set at 1.5 is strange. Is he really the type of hitter who should have a number that high? This month, he has five multi-hit games, which is the same amount he had in July and August combined.
The weirdest part about this total is he has no prior experience against New York Yankees starter Carlos Rodon. Rodon has given up 26 hits in 26.2 innings this season, but no matter what his stats are, this number makes no sense. Maybe we're being set up by oddsmakers, but we're willing to take the chance.
