Bryson Stott Over 0.5 Total Bases
Stott is one of the few Philadelphia Phillies players that is actually hitting well to start the season. He is 5-for-11 so far this year, and he has walked once. Last season, he batted just .234, so it is very unlikely that this hot start continues for much longer.
However, we think you should ride the hot bat for one more game. He will be going up against New York Yankees' left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr., and while it may seem counterintuitive to take a lefty against a lefty, Stott is actually 3-for-4 against left-handed pitchers this season. Seeing that many left-handed pitchers this early in the year, and having success, will give him a slight advantage tonight.
Connor Overton Under 3.5 Strikeouts
Overton will make his 2023 debut on Monday against the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs have only struck out 23 times this season, the fifth-lowest mark in the MLB.
On the other hand, Overton has made just 15 appearances at the Major League level in his career. In those 15 games, he has struck out a total of 29 batters. In all those games, he has struck out more than three batters exactly twice, both times fanning just four. This is a bad matchup for Overton and a very solid Under to take.
Joey Gallo Over 0.5 Total Bases
Gallo started the season 0-for-6 before belting two home runs in the Minnesota Twins' 7-4 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. Monday's matchup is an unknown between Gallo and Miami Marlins' starter Johnny Cueto, as the two have never faced each other in their careers.
Last season with the Chicago White Sox, Cueto had a WHIP of 1.23, his lowest of the last four seasons. Yet, he did give up 161 hits, his most since 2016, and he walked 33, which is not many, but was his most since 2017. This is Cueto's first appearance in what is sure to be one of his last seasons. Give the advantage to Gallo, whose total base number should realistically be set at 1.5 for this game.
