Monday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 41-45
Salvador Perez has been one of the only good players for the Royals this season. He went 2-4 yesterday, with one home run and one double. Yet, the Royals lost 11-3. Perez is the only Royal worth trusting at this point, and though this number is higher than the usual 0.5, it’s worth taking his over.
The Reds’ starter tonight will be Luke Weaver. Perez is 1-3 against him with a home run. Perez is batting just .206 this month. However, after his hitting performance last night, we expect him to keep it going against a pitcher that has allowed 56 hits and 12 home runs in just 47.1 innings this season.
Since his outstanding first start of the season back on May 17, Matthew Liberatore has cooled off considerably. In his first outing, he struck out six batters. Since then, he has struck out a combined five batters in three starts. Of course, one of those starts was a 1.0-inning outing against the Dodgers.
But Liberatore gets a solid matchup tonight against the Giants, who have struck out the second-most of any team in baseball. He has not struck out more than two in a game since his first start, but he can change that tonight. He has been giving up quite a few runs, so there is always the chance he gets pulled early. But with this number at just 4.0, we like the over.
Christian Walker has hit safely in three of his last four games and six of his last eight overall. This month, he is batting .313, significantly better than any other month this season.
Tonight, he takes on Matt Strahm, a pitcher he is just 2-12 against in his career. While that is certainly nothing to be excited about, he does have good numbers against the Phillies’ pitching staff as a whole. So, even if he can't get a hit against Strahm, he will have opportunities against the bullpen. Either way, he has a hot bat, so why go against that tonight?
