Monday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 44-51
The Red Sox are riding high after a weekend sweep of the New York Yankees. However, their hitters will face a tough matchup tonight against the Twins' Lopez. Lopez has 101 strikeouts this season. He has struck out at least six in all but two starts.
The Red Sox are one of the best-hitting teams in baseball, and they very rarely strike out. But if Lopez does what he has been all season, he could take advantage of a lineup due for a letdown after dominating their rivals. The biggest key will be Lopez keeping the Red Sox off the scoreboard so he can pitch late into the game. The only two times he hasn't struck out six, he allowed five earned runs.

Walker has recorded three consecutive multi-hit games, and he has hit safely in five of his last six. He is 10 for his last 22 and batting .362 this month. He's only 1-7 in his career against Corbin Burnes. Yet, he has one of the hottest bats in the league right now, so it's hard to go against him.
When Burnes is good, he is outstanding. However, his last time out, he allowed seven hits and was pulled after 6.0 innings. However, when he faced the Diamondbacks earlier this season, he pitched 8.0 innings and allowed just three hits. Walker did not play in that game.
At the time of writing, Rodolfo Castro was one of only Pirates with a total base number posted. We would have liked Bryan Reynolds a lot at 0.5, but his number is 1.5. It's also difficult to trust him at that number, even if he had a lot of success the last time he faced Cubs' starter, Drew Smyly.
In their last meeting, Castro didn't record his first hit of the game until after Smyly had been pulled. But he didn't strike out, and like the rest of the Pirates lineup, he was making contact. In all, the Pirates recorded nine hits, blasted three home runs and scored five runs against Smyly. Castro is only 1-6 against the Smyly in his career, but if the lineup continues to have success and put Smyly in tough positions, he's going to have opportunities tonight.
