Monday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 37-40
McClanahan has struck out 82 batters this season, and he managed to strike out at least six in 10 of his 12 starts. Of course, with this number being set right at six, there is always the chance of a push. But considering his success this year, there is a much better chance of him going over this number rather than under.

McClanahan is allowing a batting average of .265 against current Red Sox batters and he’s struck out 18 in 68 at-bats. That's the same number of hits he’s allowed. Way back on April 11th, he struck out nine Red Sox batters and only pitched 5.0 innings, which was tied for his second-shortest outing of the season. If he goes deeper into this game, he will hit this number with ease.
Manoah actually has really good career numbers against the Houston Astros. The current lineup is just 4-21 against him, and they have struck out six times. However, the Astros' bats have come to life in recent weeks and Manoah has struggled to pitch deep into games this season.
Since May 1st, Manoah has only pitched more than 5.0 innings once. In that game, he barely managed to cross the 4.5 strikeout threshold, as he ended with five. In four of his five starts in April, Manoah struck out at least five. But in May, he only had such success twice in six tries. Against a hot team like the Astros, he won't pitch long enough to make an impact.
DeJong just had a solid series against the Pittsburgh Pirates; he went 3-10 in the three games, and he walked three times. But it's hard to remain confident in a batter who had a stretch of six consecutive games without a hit at the end of May.
Tonight, DeJong will face off against Rangers' pitcher Martin Perez for the first time in his career. Perez has allowed 74 hits this season in 61.0 innings pitched. However, he has also struck out 44 batters. DeJong is much more prone to striking out than he is to getting hits, and we think he will be overmatched by Perez and the Rangers' bullpen.
