Last Sunday did not go as planned. In fact, it was a bit of an unmitigated disaster. As a fellow PrizePicks frequenter and fanatic, I will be the first to admit that. Sometimes the cards just don't fall your way. To recap, my 4/30 misses came with Alex Cobb punching out seven batters in Mexico City (his second-most strikeouts in a game all season), Joc Pederson failing to reach three total bases in the same game, and Vinnie Pasquantino failing to strikeout once against Sonny Gray and company.
The turn of the calendar presents new opportunities as May is here, and luckily, today is Saturday. We're still hitting at a 66% win rate on the seventh day of the week so far. Time to regroup and win back some money starting with a full 15-game slate.

Everyone knows gambling is just that, a risk, and I'm willing to go right back to some pitcher strikeout "unders" when the feeling is right. To Dustin May's credit, he has kicked off the season in fairly impressive fashion with a 3-1 record and a 3.15 ERA. However, as a formally known power pitcher, the strikeout numbers have been down for all intents and purposes.
May has thrown for more than five strikeouts in just one of his six appearances to kick off the campaign. He has also struggled with his control mightily, as he is averaging over two walks per appearance and just barely over five innings pitched per outing. The Padres are also rolling right now, as they have won seven of their last ten while averaging nearly six runs per game.
There is no team more desperate for a win in the MLB right now than the Mets, and today they sit with the second-highest opening odds (-210) of pulling out a victory across the slate. Colorado will be sending Austin Gomber and his 7.57 season ERA to the mound, which could be just what New York needs to get on track.
Gomber is coming off back-to-back strong performances, logging consecutive wins against Cleveland and Arizona while allowing just one combined run between the games. However, prior to that, he had given up 9, 5, 5, and 3 earned runs in his first four starts. The Mets have certainly struggled to score runs in recent days, but their right-handed core of Starling Marte, Francisco Lindor, and Pete Alonso has a good chance of producing on Saturday against Colorado's inconsistent southpaw.
The 22-year-old Greene has picked up his production since the back-end of April, and he is riding a nine-game hitting streak entering Saturday. His hot bat should enjoy seeing a man nearly twice his age, 41-year-old Adam Wainwright, make his season debut against Detroit. Wainwright, coming back from a long-term groin injury, could get knocked around in his start. The veteran posted an ugly 6.23 ERA across his three rehab starts in the minors.
Greene should look to get on base early and often on Saturday, and this could be the type of matchup where he can also utilize his speed on the basepaths. A walk and a steal are enough for Greene to hit this over with PrizePicks' scoring format, but he has many avenues of exceeding this fairly low number. Greene has posted higher than 6.5 fantasy points in each of his last three outings.
