The Austin Gomber call, however, is the one that really stung. I should have known better than to put my faith in the Mets ability to score more than two runs in a game. It had the feel of a day where they could've finally broken out in the scoring column against a spotty pitcher. I will make sure not to make that mistake again. Hey, at least Riley Greene came through for us.

Sandy Alcantara Over 6.0 Pitcher Strikeouts
For all intents and purposes, the reigning NL Cy Young has been flat-out bad to start the 2023 season. Alcantara has a 5.09 ERA, and he is in the bottom 3% of the MLB in allowed Max Exit Velocity. However, while his overall strikeout rate is down, his swing percentage and whiff percentage stats have actually increased from 2022. There has also been no noticeable change to his velocity, though his control seems to be an area of concern early on.
The Cubs as a team strike out just within the top half of the MLB, for an average of 8.61 punchouts per game. They have actually been swinging and missing more lately, with that number jumping up to 12.00 over their past three outings. Alcantara is averaging 6.6 strikeouts per game over his last three appearances and should have a good chance to hit that number again on Sunday. He knows he needs to pick up his production quickly.
Masataka Yoshida Under 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts
This could turn out to be one of those hold-your-breath types of picks, but at the same time, it might be a no-brainer. Yoshida is one of the hottest hitters in baseball right now, and he is currently riding an MLB-best 15-game hitting streak into Sunday's affair with Philadelphia. The Japanese phenom has not struck out in his last five games, and he has only gone down swinging twice over his past 36 at-bats. He is clearly seeing the ball well right now, and Taijuan Walker and company should not have a clear path to stopping him now.
Mike Trout Over 8.0 Hitter Fantasy Score
When the going gets tough, bet on arguably the greatest baseball player of all time to get you going. Trout is off to a fast start in 2023, currently slashing .301/.392/.569 with nine doubles, three homers, and 20 RBI through 123 at-bats. Tonight, he will get to square off against Martin Perez, a veteran southpaw that Trout has seen success in the past.
Across his prestigious career, Trout has gone 10-for-36 (.278) against Martin Perez, including three doubles, a triple, and a round-tripper, while walking 12 times and striking out on only six occasions. These numbers would lead me to believe that the superstar sees Perez well, and he should be able to jump out on him on Sunday. Perez has been good to start the season, but he has faced mostly bad teams, and his career numbers indicate that regression should be on the way. There are few men on this planet capable of assisting in such a regression other than Michael Nelson Trout.
